Mechanized Mayhem (Season 1)
Welcome to Mechanized Mayhem! Ever miss the good old days of robotic combat, having wonky reciver antennas, and classic chassis designs. Well wait no more! In Mechanized Mayhem were giving the oppertunity for our competitors to relive their childhood of the robot combat shows they used to watch and bring their designs to life! So! Let The Wars Begin!

Flame Grill (8 Damage)
Red tipped spikes (10 Damage)
Two OOTA Zones
Bracket: https://challonge.com/v5qavzl6
Rules:
I will be reviewing each entrants design in order to see if it would suit the classic era of robot combat. There will be 20 entries for this tournament (More slots will be added if interest grows)
The seedings will be asessed through a prediction thread to see who I feel will be getting each spot.
The Tournament will be split up into a group of four, round robin. The top two of each group will qualify to the knockout phase and the winner of the knockout phase will be declared the Mechanized Mayhem champion! Have you got what it takes?
D12 rules are going to be used for this tournament https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_Ob ... sp=sharing
RP WORD LIMIT IS 400.
Sign Ups
You have from the 22nd of Febuary to March 14th to get your entries in the tournament. Once all entries are in I will review them tosee if they are doable to compete. Get your thinking caps on and let the creativity commence!

Satanic Panic
Speed: 4
Traction: 3
Torque: 1
Weapon: 14

Satanic Panic is a vertical spinner.
Satanic Panic is driven by two NPC T-64 wheelchair gearmotors, a popular drivetrain choice on CC-Era Battlebots. These are combined with NPC 10" foam-filled tires, which won't go flat if they're punctured by spikes! These are driven by IFI Robotics Victor 883 speed controllers. The motors are overvolted to 36 volts, giving the robot a top speed of about 10 MPH.
The weapon is a spinning disc with approximately 40 lb of total spinning mass. It consists of two 3/8" thick steel disc sides (possibly 1045, might be something crappy like A36, I can't look up what was readily available in 2000). Sandwiched between these are 1/2" thick S7 tool steel teeth hardened to 52 HRC, and 6061-T6 aluminum spaces for the rest of the disc. This assembly is bolted together. A bit like Greenwar's disc without the stupid flail teeth. This spins at around 3000 rpm in theory, with a tip speed of around 160 mph (Old Nightmare spun at up to 300 MPH per Jim's website), but this is a little bit lower in practice due to air resistance. Still it should probably have a KE somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 KJ. The discs themselves are in theory manufacturable with a drill press or manual mill, using CAD to print out a template that can be taped over the part (how Nightmare and Backlash's original discs were made). The teeth and some of the spacers require CNC machining but again there were bots with this technology in 2000-2001.
The weapon is driven by a S28-400 Magmotor (used in combat robotics since Biohazard in 1995 I think), again overvolted. (Terminal Velocity used an overvolted long mag in 2004, not sure if earlier but overvolting motors for more power has been well known for a long time). This is belt-driven to protect the motor from shock loads. The motor is driven by a contactor so it is all-or-nothing.
The frame is made of 4130 steel tubing, the same kind used in racecar roll cages! This is welded together, with armor panels bolted on. The weapon supports have slippery delrin skids that fit into the ends of the tubes: these points have to take the huge impact loads of the weapon so casters would break.
Satanic Panic can't run upside-down, but the disc hitting the floor should self-right it when the weapon is running, and no the weapon motor will not hit the floor.

Entering with:
Ultra Destructomatic Two And Three Quarters!
Turbomatic Hyperthumpinator config (default):-
Speed: 7 | Traction: 6 | Torque: 2 | Weapon: 10 | Armour: 5
Hyperdynamic Ootatron 5000 Config:
Speed: 7 | Traction: 6 | Torque: 2 | Weapon: 5 | Armour: 8 (+3 front armour)
UD2.75, to give it its abbreviated title, is a crap box on wheels made of polycarbonate and held together largely by the hopes and dreams of a bespectacled nine-year-old British child from a town with an objectively stupid name. Built to an entirely retro quality standard in terms of armour - though strangely not in terms of weaponry, at least as far as the axe is concerned - and inspired by a pantheon of classic British shitbarges in appearance, aesthetic, and naming conventions alike, Ultra Destructomatic Two And Three Quarters is the absolute apex of Robot Wars engineering. The interchangeable weapon pods (nicked from the original Plunderbird) aren't Hypnodisc-levels of destruction, especially not the barely-OOTA-capable flipper, but the axe can pack a wallop and the drivetrain actually works really well. The statline is meant to evoke the quality driving of some of the classic RW competitors, who were able to do a hell of a lot with a couple of washing machine motors in an arena full of opportunities to completely screw the pooch. I'm not a rendering genius, but the aesthetic principles are there - UD2.75 is intended to be one of those machines that was admired by the robot combat cognoscenti but largely slept on by the public, who preferred flashier-looking machines like Chaos 2, Razer, and Hypnodisc. It's the kind of machine that probably got to the semi-finals of the Sixth Wars after having been something of a go-nowhere machine prior to that, but got absolutely shredded by one of the high seeds; the sort of one where they had a plan for a vastly improved machine, but it wasn't ready in time for the Seventh Wars, so they decided to sit it out and appear in the next one, leaving a generation of dipshits on Reddit to wonder what might have been had RW continued. They probably won a live championship with it one time or another, bringing glory in excelsis to Wibblington Spaffley in East Wessex or wherever the fuck these teams always seemed to come from. =]

who decided to host this in Uzbekistan? my hotel sucks!
spring powered flipper. can consistently self-right with torque reaction by reaching full speed and stopping abruptly. Yes this means I can wheelie if I'm not careful. on that front the 1 torque is a feature, not a bug :V

From Team Reaper Robotix: Torakkā
Stats:
Speed: 8
Traction: 8 (7 points spent + 1 due to tank treads, thank you D12 ruleset)
Torque: 4
Weapon: 2
Armour: 9
An unholy amalgamation of 101, Panic Attack and Panzer (the UK one), Torakkā brings into the fray a set of lifting forks to lift, control and topple it's opponents, whilst it's drivetrain is designed to allow it to smash it's opponents around the arena as well. The wedges on the back are static, but allow it to use them for pushing if turned over, since despite it's invertibility the forks are less effective when inverted.

I took some inspiration from Hammertron and Roadblock.

Originally Woodrow: The Whalloping Wyvern, but that Mythical creature was taken.
It can't self right, even with the hammer

Ok, so this is my design for the classic Robot Wars style, It's a 6WD robot with lifitng forks that can operate up and down which has a Panic Attack style, the design can run inverted.

Note: not a clusterbot
Something Strange
Lifter/clamper with a pneumatic ramming rod/bar to push or flip things. The lifter can right the robot and has about 160° of movement, which allows for the spike to hit underneath the robot. Comes with a sharpened titanium front (forks optional, any one or all) and foam wheels. Motors came from a Segway PT (we bribed the police man with toaster strudel and donuts).
