The Cherry Bomb Classic IV: The Annihilator

Post by Trihunter » Tue Apr 14, 2020 4:30 pm

Six bots enter, one bot leaves! The Annihilator is a traditional British robot combat side event, in which five brutal consecutive rounds of combat whittle a field of six bots down to a single champion, through enormous free-for-alls. The most potent feature of such brawls, however, is the rapid pace of the matches: Teams only have a few minutes between rounds to make necessary repairs to their machines. But before we elaborate on how exactly this translates to ARC, let's check out our arena...

Image

Hall of Steel and Flame by Floating Castle Robotics on Sketchfab

Name: Hall of Steel and Flame (ఉక్కు మరియు జ్వాల హాల్)

Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India

Layout: Circular

Size: 60 foot diameter - 2827 square feet

Intended Use: MW -SHW Singles and Doubles

Theme: Flame, gold, and steel in an ornate Mughal-era setting

Floor Materials: steel

OOTA Zone?: NO

House Robots: This arena does not use house robots.

Hazards and Features:
  • The Tandoor - At the center of a ten foot diameter circular depression lies the fire pit to end all fire pits. Depressed six inches below the rest of the arena floor, The Tandoor is named after a traditional type of circular stone oven popular on the Indian subcontinent. And an absolute oven it is. Whenever a bot comes in contact with the pressure-sensitive tungsten grate over top of it, brilliant spears of flame with a temperature in excess of 500°C (That's nearly 1000°F) will leap from its depths, dealing moderate to heavy damage over the course of ten seconds. Once the timer is up, the entire assembly will pop up, launching bots trapped on it a height equivalent to that of a 3 power flipper.
  • Spears of Agony Agni - Ringing the entire arena at a height of a foot and a half are these colossal steel spikes. Ramming your enemy into them will increase ramming damage dealt by one point.

Achievement One: Phall Guy - KO your opponent using The Tandoor.

Achievement Two: Prick-ki Tikki Tavi - Win by impaling your opponent on a Spear of Agni.

Annihilator Rules
  1. Six entrants will be selected for this match. The participating robots must all be CBC4 participants, and cannot feature extra modifications from your signup post. Bots are arbitraryweight, so you can enter any of your machines, regardless of weight class. You must declare a config choice upon sign-up, and cannot switch configs in between rounds.
  2. Teams will start the fight distributed with even spacing, starting from the green flames and moving clockwise in the order they appear in the fight thread.
  3. Fights have an extended time limit of ten minutes, but will end prematurely when one machine is KO'd. A judge's decision may also be employed in the event of a double KO.
  4. Repair System: Damage will carry over in between rounds in this event. After each round, a tally of the surviving machines' damaged parts will be listed, including what number of damage was dealt to them. Roboteers will be able to choose one of these listed parts to repair fully in between rounds. In future rounds, damaged parts will begin the fight as damaged as they were in the previous match.

If you're interested, sign up in this thread, and await the first round's RP thread, which will commence alongside next week's fight card. If rules are tweaked (this is a rather new event style to ARC, there may be issues found whilst these signups are live), you will be allowed to resubmit your entry, if you so wish. If there's enough interest, we may run more than one annihilator, so don't be shy if we're already at six entrants.

Signups are now closed!

Alright, let's get the Annihilator underway! RP threads will be created for you alongside each week of signups, and the deadline will match that week's deadline.

ROUND 1: Tabor Mark 4 vs Xtreme PneumatiX vs Apeirogon vs Diablo Genesis III vs Fustercluck vs Wallop

The brawl begins in explosive fashion, with the bots rapidly converging towards the middle. Xtreme PneumatiX curves around to attack Wallop, but is caught and upended by a rampaging Tabor, whilst Wallop approaches the other half of the group. Apeirogon and Fustercluck are more reserved, but DGIII isn't having any of it, quickly catching out and throwing over Apeirogon, Tabor rushing in to attack the blue flipper on the way. Wallop and FusterCluck get to brawling, with Wallop seeming to have the upper hand, getting the first spinner strike of the match, throwing its twin over. Xtreme PneumatiX and Apeirogon have got enough clear space to get back on their wheels, and duke it out for a second, before, again, Tabor barrels through and throws over Apeirogon once more, Ethan managing to dodge the second assault and stick their flipper deep under Tabor's skirts, lifting up the main chassis of the machine. Meanwhile, DGIII and Fustercluck are teaming up on Wallop, DGIII managing to get under and roll it over, as FusterCluck follows up with a strike matching the one dealt to it before. Wallop bounces back, managing to get itself upright, before getting immediately tipped once more. The rest of the field are somewhat converging, Tabor smashing its plow through the back of the spinners as they duke it out, slamming Wallop into the spikes. Wallop flails as it tries to get itself free from the wall, with Apeirogon managing to strike with another blow on the stricken bot in the madness, leaving the bot stuck on top of the spikes this time. As the other bots get back to brawling (notably Tabor and Xtreme PneumatiX facing off and beating out the two remaining spinners again), Wallop remains beached, not quite able to free itself from its predicament before the KO countdown ends.

DAMAGE REPORT:

Tabor: Scratches on front plow (1 damage equivalent)
Xtreme PneumatiX: Scratched wedge (1 damage equivalent)
Apeirogon: Light spinner wear (1 damage equivalent)
FusterCluck: Heavy damage to front wedge (3 damage equivalent), light spinner wear (1 damage equivalent)
Diablo Genesis III: Scratches on flipper arm (1 damage equivalent)
Wallop: 『R E T I R E D』

ROUND 2: Tabor Mark 4 vs Xtreme PneumatiX vs Apeirogon vs Diablo Genesis III vs Fustercluck

As expected, all five bots come out swinging, with Tabor and Xtreme PneumatiX immediately brawling, the wedges clashing, Tabor pivoting, twisting and rolling PneumatiX over, stuffing them into the wall. Meanwhile, DGIII has managed to grapple Apeirogon's arse whilst it jousts with Fustercluck, the impromptu combiner slamming the blue spinner into the Tandoor, triggering an almighty burst of flame. Meanwhile, PneumatiX has been stuffed arse-first into the spikes, receiving a solid dimpling on the rear, before managing to escape, barely. Ding, the Tandoor's done, throwing Fustercluck free from it, getting another smack from Apeiblo Generogon III before it splits, and Fustercluck seems to be out for the count! As the countdown continues, Xtreme PneumatiX actually manages to squirrel its way under Tabor's plow on its next assault, scooping it up and throwing it onto the Tandoor, scorching the manic bot's paintjob as the buzzer goes.

DAMAGE REPORT:

Tabor: Fire-damaged chassis electronics (2 damage equivalent), scratched wedge w/ melted paintjob (1 damage equivalent)
Xtreme PneumatiX: Scratched wedge (1 damage equivalent)
Apeirogon: Light spinner wear (1 damage equivalent)
Diablo Genesis III: Scratched wedge (1 damage equivalent)
FusterCluck: 『R E T I R E D』

ROUND 3: Tabor Mark 4 vs Xtreme PneumatiX vs Apeirogon vs Diablo Genesis III

Once more, into the fray. Tabor and PneumatiX set to work facing eachother down once more, PneumatiX winning the initial encounter this time, rolling over Tabor. The other bots take the time to close in on Tabor, DG3 aiding PneumatiX on keeping Tabor off of its wheels, as Apeirogon spins up and delivers a cracking strike on the exposed underbelly of the valiant warrior, launching a skirt into the ceiling. The two wedges manage to scoop up Tabor, tossing it into the fires of the Tandoor, scorching the bot once more. Rocket scrambles with their controls as Tabor actually manages to get upright, but dealing with two flippers at once proves too tough for a single turret. This time, it's DG3 that's under Tabor, through the absent skirt, lifting and tipping the monstrous plow over once more. Another strike from Apeirogon puts a hefty crack in the baseplate, as Tabor is again tossed in the flames, its motions slowed as it's flung free once more. Another 20 seconds or so of harassment from the other three bots, and Tabor's drive finally gives out, a plume of smoke erupting from the chassis as everything catches fire, making a hell of a viking funeral.

DAMAGE REPORT:

Xtreme PneumatiX: Scratched wedge (1 damage equivalent)
Apeirogon: Light spinner wear (1 damage equivalent)
Diablo Genesis III: Scratched wedge (1 damage equivalent)
Tabor Mark 4: 『R E T I R E D』
