ARC: Arena

Post by Siphai » Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:20 pm

Just thought I'd post this here for easy access

Here's the official ARC Arena used in every upcoming ARC league. Let's start off with a nice overview of how the stadium itself looks. This also gives you a good idea of arena size comparison to the actual bots. We have two heavyweight bots, SUNCUST (red square, north side) and ToC (blue square, south side) as examples. Also check to see which bots had the honor of making it on the four walls of the stadium itself.

Image

The arena hazard that always seems to stay. It's the pulverizers! 4 pulverizers located in each four corners of the arena. These big hammers are intended for inflicting strong damage. If you get hit by these enough times, you could find yourself either crippled or KOed.

Another favorite is the killsaws. These triple sawblades cause minor damage and are good for showing off (sparks). Prolonged exposure to the saws, though, can lead to critical damage depending on the conditions.

The next hazard we have is the wall drum. This weapon is meant primarily for torque. Hazard is effective for flipping bots or tossing them round. Damage is minimal.

There are two sets of wedge walls on the west side of the arena, and one long set on the east side. Good for pinning bots and possibly even flipping.

The spike strips are back in ARC. There are sets of spikes located in the north and south sides of the arena.

I'm just estimating here, but I'd say it was roughly 50 feet by 50 feet. So quite big (I think) but still confined enough for the two bots to stay on each other.

I'm not entirely sure where you're going with this, so I'm not going to argue. I've just given my opinion of the sort of numbers involved. I like numbers. =)

I imagine they're for beaching robots with a particularly low ground clearance, or for taking a ramming run at them.

Eh, as long as he doesn't go around bumping threads for no reason, it's fine.

Quick newcomer tip: Posting in a thread that has not been posted in for an extended period of time (your mileage may vary), otherwise known as "bumping", without a valid contribution is generally frowned upon in most circles. =) Just thought I'd let you know so you don't get yourself into too much bother.

Does anyone have a copy of these? The pictures have been down for months now. If we can't find them then we'll probably have to recreate it.
