Robot Fight Night: Season 1

ROBOT FIGHT NIGHT: SEASON 1

Since CBC2, RB2 are on ice, and R4 is to be determined, i'm starting a small Middleweight and Heavyweight tournament to get some activity back into these forums, so grab ya MW's and HW's and get ready to rumble!

TOURNAMENT INFO
--

Everyone enters two robots, one being a Middleweight (120 US Pounds/54.5 Kilograms), and the other being a Heavyweight. (220 US Pounds/100 Kilograms) They will have to assign 30 points between 5 stat categories, those are being Speed, Traction, Torque, Weapon, and Armor.

For the ruleset, we are going off of the standard ARC rules, but we will also be following:

The Ruination 4 Armor Bonus rules -

When stacking armour bonuses onto a robot, deduct the triangle number of however many points you're adding from your main Armour.

So +1/-1, +2/-3, +3/-6, +4/-10 and so forth.

Examples:

Pursuit has 9 armour. He puts +1 on his rear plow, giving the plow 10 armour and leaving the body with 8.
Mimete has 10 armour. She puts +2 on the rear plow, giving it 12 armour and leaving the body with 7.
Shadow Zone Forever has 8 armour. It puts +3 on the rear wedge, giving it 11 armour and leaving the rest at a paltry 2.
Sleipnir has 10 armour. It can't give a +4 to its front wedge because, even though its front would be 14 armour, the body would be 0 and that is illegal.

The Ruination 4 Speed Scaling rules -

Speed now has a constant of 2 units, with 1 unit for every point added in speed. No robot can have a speed less than 1 point (3 units).

For example, a 4 speed robot (6 units) would be twice as fast as a robot with 1 speed (3 units), and a robot with 10 speed (12 units) would be twice as fast as a robot with 4 speed (6 units).

Previously, metres per second (m/s) or miles per hour (mph) were used as units of measurement, but since people were getting pedantic about realism, there are no specified units, just a "unit". :v:

Torque works with speed as it usually does, so no changes there.

The CBC Saw damage rules -

Circular saws and drills must be mounted on some form of articulating attachment and will automatically take (armour value) x 2 seconds to pierce an opposing robot's armour if held against it. Every point put into a sawblade weapon reduces the piercing time by one second and enables it to sink .5 inches deeper into an enemy bot. For example, a six power sawblade against 10 armour would take fourteen seconds to pierce and would sink three inches deep, while a ten power sawblade against 7 armour would take 4 seconds (similar to Red Devil vs. Witch Doctor) and sink five inches deep. For the purpose of writing matches, piercing depth will be roughly equivalent to corner damage (i.e. 3 inches pierced = 3 corner damage).

And the MonkeyWrench multibot rules -

a. A minibot costs two points and automatically starts with 4 speed, 0 weapon, 1 armour, 2 traction, and 1 torque. Any extra points added into a minibot

Armor: 10 (+1 front wedge)

The legislacerator is here, bitches! 4WD front-hinged overhead flipper that's named and themed after Terezi Pyrope's ancestor from the webcomic Homestuck. Contrary to popular belief, Redglare isn't my main homestuck waifu, but Latula Pyrope is. Still a pyrope though. Uses a onboard air compressor to power the flipper and whatnot. Flipper and wedge run off the same system.

Yeah she's returning, because CBC2 is in the name vortex as RB2, and i want to get one good tournament outta her after R.O.B.O.T.S. Also fuck you Vovoka, i'm getting my revenge. :v:

Definitley not a projection of my democratic socialist revolutionary beliefs onto my fantasy robot combat team, no sir. 4WD Chomp-style hammer with a hinged anti-spinner scoop in the front. Pretty standard, but should be a good spinner killer. Has ground clearance.

Middleweight:
Incredible Dawg Adventure
Image
Speed: 7
Torque: 3
Traction: 5
Armor: 11 (+2 overhead lifter. Yes, I checked to make sure it was less than 33% of the total surface area.)
Weapon: 4 (3/3 split between piston-ram, lifter)
Has a piston-ram powering two "beaks" in a St. Aggro-like setup, along with a standard el-generico no fun breaker box clone overhead lifter. The piston-ram can be extended and retracted to open and close the two plates, but they cannot open/close independent of each other due to running off of the same system. The overheard lifter can rotate a full 360 degrees and presses into the ground. The wedge is high enough for robots to drive up the overhead lifter and onto the piston-ram lifter. Actually the sequel to my FRR: No Mercy MW, but I had to take a few creative liberties.

Also, I spent an hour rendering these two shots and accidentally saved it in .jpeg format. Then again, you guys let Gabe get away with entering stuff that looks like it came straight off of one of those late-2000s meme aggregate websites that shove 20 dozen watermarks onto any given pic and drive the image quality down to shit, so whatever. :v:

Heavyweight:
Tongue of the Fatman
Image
Speed: 4
Torque: 1
Traction: 3
Armor: 11 (+1 to the red parts scribbled in here of the front. Basically the front 33%.)
Weapon: 11
It's a bigass flipper with a bigass piston stroke. Angled wheels means it moves forward at 3ish speed, but turns at 5ish speed. Think Eat Me Too but with a huge 11 point deathflipper. Front wedgelets are removable.

Last seen as an experiment for CBC2. The results couldn't have gotten any better. The outcome was simply this: fuck you and your wedges :v:
2WD with cambered wheels and a respectable amount of ground clearance underneath the base. Normally this would make it highly vulnerable to wedges. This is why it is covered entirely with fucktons of wedge forks :v. Bright red fork in the front is static, dark red and black wedgelets are hinged at a 20

Yay, entries! XD

M/W: Since I consider the Reddit fantasy robot series dead and no sign of life (until BattleBots S3 ever happens), I'm moving and re-classifying Valravn to a MiddleWeight.

4wd 4-bar lifter with spikes that assist with self-righting (and just look cool!).

TOR:2

H/W: You only need one guess ;) And, I hope this tournament goes to the end-this bot has been acting a bit 'cranky' lately and I kinda value life and limb...just sayin' XD

MW - Precise Saunter Mk3

Image

Speed: 6 Traction: 5 Weapon: 10 Armour 7 Torque: 2

Precise Saunter's locomotion are shufflers that help the robot accelrate when it goes forward, the body is a tad stockier and edgy to improve the ground clearance, the axe is electric powered with a powerful motor to give it decent potential penetration. It's front is similar it's previous preadessor but it's a static wedge.

HW - Dysprosinator

Image

Speed: 7 Traction: 6 Torque: 3 Armour: 12 Weapon: 2

This robot is designed to handle/tank opponents that have a spinning weapon, the robot is 2WD with tank threads for locomotion, also there to prevent the robot from rebounding away from the impact of spinners.

The top armament showing the tracks is covered in Polycarbonate, the rest is metal.

The robot has electric liniar acuators that has a limit of at a few mm of ground clearance of at least 1/4, this will also prevent the drivetrain from being effected since the gap between the arena floor and the chassis itself would be enough to keep the power and locomotion going as normal. The hinged skirts are with angle limiters so they're lifted off the ground with the chassis raised, but contact the ground with the chassis lowered, therefore protecting the tank threads rather well.

The weapon is also electrically powered with a lifiter of up to 120 degrees, it can "only" raise up and even go down. The robot also includes translucent spiked wedges to prevent from being monster truck'ed, maybe catch the opponent from being on top and toppling over it. They also help the robot assist the self righting quicker with the lifter putting it back onto it's tracks.

8 speed / 8 traction / 4 torque / 1 weapon / 9 armour (+2 plow (yes that includes the hammer blocker))

And as my heavyweight, Dock Leaf 2:

Speed: 13
Traction: 6
Armour: 7 (+1 to both thwack and wedge)
Torque: 1
Weapon: 3 (2 melty-brain, 1 throttle control (artificially reducing speed to 8))

Because I can, and because I don't feel like rendering anything new. 2WD vertical disc/drum spinner that can run inverted if need be, and also self-right by reversing into a wall.

Speed: 5
Weapon: 13
Armor: 7 (+2 wedge including side pontoons)
Traction: 4
Torque: 1

HW: Doomerang 3
Image

Back from RB2. Doomerang is a melty-brain spinner with 9 wheels! why 9, you ask? Because there isn't any reason not to! It makes my drivetrain more redundant, and it reduces knockback, and since the outer ones are tilted slightly, it means I have very little wheel scrub while spinning up. Doomerang is fully invertible.

(If you're wondering what the "thwack teeth" are, it's the outer region of the arms, including both sets of spikes and the wheel guards)

Speed: 13
Weapon: 3
Armor: 10 (+1 to the thwack teeth)
Traction: 3 (+3 melty-brain spinup bonus for a total of 6)
Torque: 1

Middleweight: Sekhmet
Image
Image
Image

Base Stats:
Speed: 5
Traction: 4
Torque: 1
Weapon: 14
Armor: 6

Anti-spinner config:
Weapon: 11
Armor: 9 (+2 front wedge)

Anti-hammer config:
Weapon: 11
Armor: 9 (+2 shock-mounted top plates)

Same wide chassis, same swoopy wedges, same vertical spinner. Sekhmet now has three different configurations. The base configuration keeps the 24 lb spiral disc and 1/8" steel wedge. The anti-spinner config uses the lighter symmetrical bar spinner, with a beefy 1/4" thick steel wedge. And finally, Sekhmet now has an anti-hammer configuration, using the lighter disc and the thinner 1/8" wedge and using the leftover weight to mount a pair of shock-mounted 1/4" aluminum plates (Parabolic Trajectory Rule applies) to stop hammers, saws, etc. Note that there's no internal components directly under the wedge, so hammers/saws can put holes in it without affecting the robot's function. And yes, you ARE allowed to put an armor bonus on the top of your robot, provided it's under 1/3 the combined area. Sekhmet's wedge is 28% of her chassis surface area, the extra top plates are 25% of the surface area.

Heavyweight: Hati and Skoll

Image

Hati:
Speed 6, Traction 5, Torque 2, Armor 11, Weapon 0

Skoll:
Speed 2, Traction 1, Torque 1, Armor 6, Weapon 14

Hati and Skoll are back! Basically they're the same other than Hati being slightly slower, but with less speed, better control, and more armor to take advantage of the new speed rules. Oh, and Hati can now use a pair of sharpened "fangs" against opponents with 2WD wedges or pressing lifters.

ok, if there is enough space, I wish to enter the following robots:
MW: Magica

Magica is a mecanum track flipper. Hammer protection plate is optional
stats: speed: 8, Traction: 8, torque: 2, weapon: 3, Armour: 9

HW: Crosscut

a counter-rotating diagonal ring spinner. control, stability and questionable design choices. the nice little prongs have limiters so I don't get stuck on them. the weapons are powered by one motor in the chassis of the robot and I use a belt that can slip one way but not the other so if one disc stops spinning the other can keep spinning (if it hits something, or breaks)
stats: speed: 3, Traction: 2, torque: 1, weapon: 17*, Armour: 7

*-1 for multiple weapons on 1 motor for 16 weapon on the disc
