Welcome to Realism's Only For Losers, a.k.a. ROFL, the (as far as I know) first ever exploit-bot tournament on ARC! Have you ever had an idea for a bot that powergames just a little too hard? Have you ever found a wording problem in the rules but not had a practical reason to address it? Have you ever wondered how a melty-brain snakebot would function if it weren

Deus Ex! Boom! Suck on that, bitches!

Hello, all of you irresistible forces in the superheavyweight division! Meet the immovable object. Well, actually it's kind of an irresistable force too...

<big><big><big><big>Deus Ex</big></big></big></big>

Image

Size Matters
As with so many of my machines, your first question might be: "WTF is it?&#33;" Quite simply put, it's the silliest flipper of all time. More properly termed, it's an A.D.D. No that doesn't mean that it had problems paying attention in the early nineties. A.D.D. stands for Arena Denial Device. Deus Ex enters the arena folded up into five sections along the seams which are visible in the linked pictures, with the two on either side at a vertical and held by a latch. When the actuator that controls the bot's ability to push its front plow down is triggered, the latch unlocks, allowing gravity to unfold the entire bot. Then, Deus Ex is 46 glorious feet wide, which is enough to stretch nearly the entire width of either arena, with a bit of wiggle room. Other superheavyweights simply won't be able to get past its flipper and flank it.

The Irresistible Force
So let's talk about the flipper a bit. It might just be the mightiest flipper that robotic combat has ever witnessed, with thirteen base power and a stroke of seventeen feet. Yes, you read that correctly. It can fling opposing bots 24.5 feet through the air. Take solace in the fact that there is a strip of one foot running across the middle of the arena where you are safe from being thrown out of it. However, the flipper's front plow is also incredibly shallow, incredibly long (9.2 feet), and incredibly tough. It consists of a very thin layer of titanium with a fracture toughness of 66&#33; This is lain on top of extremely lightweight aluminum (except for where it's mounted to the chassis bars). The real strength, though, comes from a layer of folded graphene sandwiched between them. Though a bit brittle (hence why it isn't on top), this is the hardest producible material known to humankind, with a tensile strength factorially higher than that of even the strongest steel alloys. It is also among the absolute best at dissipating and distributing incoming energy. Finally, it's not cheap. Yep, this is a bling bot.

The Immovable Object
The flipper is the only part of Deus Ex with any serious armour, so it's extremely long to stymie the attacks of spinners and has a lip that rises abruptly to a near vertical to stop canny opponents from monstertrucking over the top and pesky hammers from getting at the internals. Certain features, such as the chasses' metal lattices, are rendered much larger in the linked album than they would actually appear in real life for the sake of clarity. The lip at the top of the plow rises almost a foot at a 75 degree angle, all but guaranteeing that any bot attempting to climb it will simply end up flipping itself. Adding to the fearsomeness of this weapon is its broadness, flatness, and sheer mass. It is the shallowest angled flipper in ARC, and it rests against the ground with a weight greater than that of a normal Superheavyweight (yes, this is a walker because that was the only way to make it viable due to the weight bonus. Sorry). Just to be certain, however, there it a second mechanism that can push the backs of the rams up, pushing the plow into the ground and ensuring that it gets beneath opponents. Yup. It presses, and the walking pods are on pivots, so that it doesn't high end itself.

The Diet from Hell
So, how did I make something so large viable? The entire frame of Deus Ex, with the exception of portions directly related to the weapon, is constructed of lightweight tubular aluminum in a rigid, well-braced steel lattice. There is no chassis armour, merely sheets of kevlar covering most gaps (You can take the armour rating to be a reflection of the durability of things like the rams, tanks, and frame). The drive train is very minimal, since this is less of a battlebot and more of an Arena Denial Device (ADD). It only needs to creep forward in a straight line, and potentially backward, so it does not require a great deal of battery power. The dual chasses also don't have any baseplates, merely a raised and reinforced lattice to keep internal components safe from hazards (they can't hurt what they can't reach). In fact, the majority of the 'inside' of this machine is just empty space, designed to provide a buffer layer between opposing machines' weapons and the internals, should the unthinkable happen. For the sake of realism, the tanks for the rams contain only enough gas for a handful of mighty flips. However, between the prospect of an OOTA and catastrophic falling/ceiling damage taken by opposing machines, fights should not last long. If Deus Ex somehow runs out of gas and fails to KO its opponent, it is still an effective wedge, has 10.5 feet of knockback mitigation, and is almost impossible to damage.

Stats
So, how do you stat a flipper designed purely to be a fight-ending weapon? To be honest, I really struggled with that, so these stats are pretty tentative:

Speed: 4 &#124; Weapon: 14 (+1 upward ram) &#124; Armour: 12 (+3 front wedge) &#124; Traction: 3 &#124; Torque: 1

Gratuitous Banjo:

Now see, people always like to limit themselves to a single wedge, a single weapon, or even a single basic body shape for their robots. But, there's nothing stopping you from bringing two robots, right? Bronco did it&#33; so, why not take that a step further? bring a robot for EVERY POSSIBLE SITUATION. This post is long, so there is liberal spoiler tag usage to keep images from taking up half the page. also, conveniently, each of these configurations has a nice name so you can remember it easily.

From the Chinese factory where they make 360 lifters (an exploit in their own right):

<big>Ikea's Guard Dog:</big>

And now with extra hammer blocker&#33;

8 speed / 8 traction / 4 torque / 1 weapon / 9 armour (+3 plow (yes that includes the hammer blocker))

Imma reserve
SHW: pinball (just yell at me if someone already has used the name.
It is a ring spinner walker with a 12 point tracked mecanum wheel bot to keep it company. And pick it up for increased (a bit) movement speeds.
Stats: walker: speed: 1, traction: 1, torque: 1, weapon: 17, armour: 11.
Mecanum tracked ally: speed: 4, traction: 3, torque: 1, weapon: 1, armour: 3.

I was going to CAD this in Blender but I got too lazy, and I was going to wait until other people entered their stuff so no one would counter me but you all are lazy too apparently. So here you are:

<big><big>Whirlpool</big></big>

Image

Image

Think of it as a vertical ring spinner. All of the drums are running off the same motor system, and so they each have (weapon - 1) power. (You can either imagine they've each got a belt drive coming through their closest support, or that there's an angled joint as with a car driveshaft connecting each to its neighbor.) The drive system is a bunch of omniwheels in an octagonal configuration, because why not. It would involve some really complicated programming to make it work in real life, but here all I have to do is tell you it works great. It's also got a bunch of hinged spikes to get under stuff. Pretend they look nice and not like they're about to fall off any second, because I'm too lazy to do it for you.

Anyway, stats&#33;

4 Speed // 3 Traction // 1 Torque // 15 Weapon // 6 Armor
