Monthly Special Event: Pokebots!

Do you pokemon, bruh? You into vaporbots too? This tournament combines them. Enter two heavyweights named after pokemon and at least vaguely resembling them. No, items, buffs, and actual pokemon attacks won't be allowed. Your attacks will be considered to whatever type your pokebot is (or types, if it's dual). Fakemons and repainted wedges will be booted. Pokemon weakness and resistance will be applied here as follows:

Weakness to an attack: The attack does +1 damage
Resistance to an attack: The attack does -1 damage
Immunity to an attack: The attack does -2 damage

In the case of robots that have no active weapons or active weapons of less than five power, the weakness and resistance table will be applied as follows:

Weakness: the attacker gains one point of torque
Resistance: the attacker loses one point of traction
Immunity: the attacker loses one point of traction and one point of torque

For further reference, here's a guide to pokemon typing in terms of weakness and resistance: PokemonDB

This mini-tournament will consist of a very brief group stage with the top finisher from each group qualifying for a semifinal, and the winners of those meeting to see who will be crowned ARC's pokemon master.

In terms of the fights themselves, you will enter a custom arena with both robots, though one will be held back behind a barrier that you may open whenever you wish to switch robots. You may switch up to three times. If one of your robots is knocked out, the other one automatically becomes active. Rounds will last four minutes here instead of three.

Your entry post should include your trainer name, the region that you hail from, (i.e. Kalos, Unova, Hoenn, Kanto), and the two pokebots you'll be bringing. If you've got any more questions, just consult <del>the Pokedex</del> <del>Professor Oak</del> the Tournament Organizer. Good luck. Is being a Pokebots master your destiny?

Signups Open: January 2, 2017

March: Zombots

- A virus has infected the robots and they've gone rogue. Legions of them seem to spring up from nowhere, targeting the few still loyal to humans. Grab a partner and defend yourself against increasingly tougher waves of zombie robots. When you've defeated one arena, move up to the next, and work your way towards the heart of the plague. After three failures, your robots will become infected and fight against the team that makes it the furthest in a final gauntlet! Can you save robotkind?

Signups Open: January 29, 2017
Event Begins: March 5, 2017
Entry Cap: 8 teams

April: Aquabots

- You know what robots hate? Water, just like witches do. No, we're not building robotic witches. We're going to a specially constructed Aquarena to hold ARC's first-ever tournament for water based robots. These will nominally be heavyweights. The arena will be uniformly five feet deep. Explosives and projectiles will be allowed. However, explosive projectiles will not. More details to come. Get ready to sink your opponent's <del>battleship</del> robot!

Signups Open: March 5, 2017
Event Begins: April 2, 2017
Entry Cap: 16

May: Gigaweights

- You've got 5000 lbs and 50 stat points (57 for walkers) to work with. Entaglement, fluids, explosives, and projectiles will be allowed, though they'll be subect to the stat system like everything else. The arena will be a cordoned off section of the Mojave desert. These won't be robots in the true sense, since you'll be piloting them with up to three War Boys as crew members. Mad Max was cool, k?

Signups Open: April 2, 2017
Event Begins: April 30, 2017
Entry Cap: 16

June: Failbots

Have a design that has been either a complete disaster, frustrating failure, or consistently mediocre? Does it have a losing record? Can it just not quite cut it with the big leagues? Well, boy-o do I have some good news for you! Failbots is only for robots with losing records, so take that special little guy, plop him in here, and watch him achieve against competition he actually has a chance of beating!

Signups Open: April 30, 2017
Event Begins: June 3, 2017
Entry Cap: 16

Past Events: Tha Mean Streets

Brick vs. Spinner. Gang warfare on the mean streets of ARC. Only one team can win. Who will it be?

Signups Opened: November, 2016
Event Began: December 7, 2016
Entry Cap: 7 each side
