Ruination: The Upheaval - Sign-ups

Post by That Kode Guy » Sat Apr 16, 2016 2:58 pm

This thread has been moved to Old Signups, because it is full of too many dead entrants. However, I want to keep said entrants just in case they're useful in the future.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: TBA (some time after FRR: Backlash)

Banned robots
Flying robots
Hovercrafts
Clusterbots that don't have the same motivation in all their parts (i.e.: one part is a wheeled robot, the other is a walker)
<del>Underall</del>

Sign-up Info

- Everyone enters a total of four bots, one from each weight class (Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Superheavyweight) and assigns them stats using 30 points per bot. Points will be divvied up by 5 categories:

-Speed
-Traction
-Torque
-Armour
-Weapon Power

The battles will take place in a Round Robin style with playoffs afterward to determine the champion of each weight class.

Lightweight
Eudial II

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/xqwsjJa.png" alt="Posted Image" width='768' height='432' />

The champion is back.

4WD IceWave-style spinner... but with a twist&#33; The body is tilted at a slight angle, so the quite lengthy blade hits very low at the front end of the robot, almost undercutter style... while it hits higher at the rear. Wheel sizes are the same despite the angled body.

Eudial sports some hinged wedges at the front, all connected on the same axle, some side skirts, and a <del>horrible</del>nice ABR plow at the rear. Wedge components can be removed in some instances if ever there is need for more range, and the blade can be placed on the other way if I need to spin it the other way. :v:

If flipped, Eudial can knock herself over with the blade, using the "horns" she has on top that protect the weapon motor. Granted, it's not the most reliable self-righting in the world, but it should do the trick eventually.

Speed: 4
Traction: 2
Torque: 1
Armour: 8
Weapon: 15

Middleweight
Mimete V

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/Wz9kesx.png" alt="Posted Image" width='768' height='432' />

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/eg6Wit2.png" alt="Posted Image" width='768' height='432' />

2WD clamper. Front jaws are Lockjaw-style, but can move independently. Top jaw can start down on the ground with the bottom jaws if need be, like Diesector. The rear plow is hinged, so she can't be beached on it. She works fine inverted, though the plow does not.

(stats tbe)

Heavyweight
Tellu III

Superheavyweight
The Kaleidoscopic God

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/rfcXLBk.png" alt="Posted Image" width='768' height='432' />

Turret clamper. With treads&#33; And hinged skirts all around&#33; The lift/clamp mechanism works on an electromagnetic clutch like in Big Nipper, so the jaws can clamp and lift, but not both at once... and the entire mechanism is inside the turret. The turret spins fast without being uncontrollable, allowing me to point the jaws at speedy rammers/lifters without needing a fast drivetrain.

Speed: 5
Traction: 4
Torque: 2
Armour: 11
Weapon: 8 (5/5 split for the turret and the lift/clamp mechanism, and an added point for the clutch)

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Speed: 8
Traction: 6
Torque: 3
Weapon: 1
Armor: 12 (+1 bar)

Tracked ramming bar. Taking advantage of the ruling that ramming bars are always fast-moving weapons to conserve points for the drivetrain. I figure these things do next to no damage anyway, so I might as well do some stat optimizations to take that into account. Torpedo has what's lately been called a "floating drivetrain," ie. the entire chassis is hinged in line with the rear axle, so the front wedges are ground-scraping. This also causes the bar to fire at a very slight downward angle, useful for knocking spinners off balance. All hinges are limited so the chassis won't flip around itself and do weird stuff.

Physics has not been friendly to SVS, so I've switched it out for this little guy. 2WD undercutter with some extra torque to make it a little more nippy. Have fun wedging that. Undercutters eat wedge lips for breakfast.

Like Neon, but heavier.

Speed: 8
Traction: 8
Torque: 3
Weapon: 1
Armor: 10 (+2 front armor plate)

2WD electric flipper designed with match control in mind. For wedges and clamps, it has its speed and flipper to zip around to opponent's sides and quickly remove their wheels from the floor. For spinners, it has a tough front armor plate (the light gray part of the flipper) and high traction. Other features include removable anti-monster trucking spikes, a rounded rear so its wheels stay on the ground when the front is lifted, and a cool blue paint job.

Full Tilt's gonna return for a later tournament. I just really want to use Greed. 2WD rammer/thwack, with an overhead thwack option that doubles as a clamp. See how long the tail is, and how tall the hook is? The overhead thwack is meant to land the hook behind the opponent and trap them. Fork and plow setups are pictured. The blue bits on the fork setup are spring-loaded at the top. It doesn't make them any more wedgey, but have fun trying to reverse off of them. Will they be effective? Probably not. Do I care? Probably not. The wheelpods have side treads to provide traction if it gets lifted from the side. I wouldn't have expected this to be a problem, but it happened to Suplex in the last Ruination a few times so this is my solution.

Spring tension flipper/grabber. the entire weapon assembly is hinged, which means it's got a good deal of weight in it when it comes to wedge wars. alternate configuration is a bigass ABR plow mounted on the same hinge that the weapon is. invertable, and can self right in the same manner that lockjaw can. the weapon retraction works like this btw: http://i.imgur.com/SsblzuS.gif

HW- Dreadnought Mk.3
Image

After a successful stint competing on Reddit in Reckoning Extinction and Battlebots Pressure Drop where it finished runner-up twice, everyone's favourite front-hinged Flipper returns once more to ARC. Completely rebuilt from the second version, it's built around a shorter and wider chassis for superior control and wedgeability, raised rear wheels to keep the nose in the ground more effectively and escape from wedges and lifters easily if need be (but still having a flat surface on the back for pushing if need be) and a much bigger, more powerful, and reinforced Flipper with a new layer of thick armour underneath it (As seen in the second set of pictures) for additional protection from overhead weapons as well as more effectively chucking opponents about.

The main changes however, lie in the drivetrain and protection. Whilst still maintaining the sleek stealth bomber-like layout and approximate speed and agility of Mk2, the Torque on Mk3 has been increased, giving it much better acceleration, pushing power, and general ability to keep opponents under control- especially when combined with its new thicker armour, the double-layered plating on top (The Flipper and layer underneath), and the classic "Cobra Hood" wedges on the sides from Mk2 for maximum spinner protection and structural integrity as needed, and a stepped covering over the end of the chassis wedge for additional "getting-underneath-your-bot"-ness, protection, and to make it difficult for opponents with low ground clearances to escape from once Dreadnought is underneath.

Speed: 7
Traction: 6
Torque: 3
Weapon: 5 (Front-Hinged Pneumatic Flipper)
Armour: 9

Notes: Can self-right quickly and effectively using the Flipper, the polycarbonate Strip along the top of the Flipper is removable if necessary, and the tyres are foam-filled to minimise any damage and/or traction loss from the Killsaws. The flags on the front of the machine represent Lincolnshire (Left) and Leicestershire (Right). As always, the robot is named after HMS Dreadnought (S101), the United Kingdom's first Nuclear-powered Submarine.

Ooh ooh

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but
You're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Team Instant Regret is back&#33;

Lightweight: One Toothed One Wheeled Spinning Purple Robot Eater (can be called "SPRE" for short).

Image

Speed: 16 (but really 2 because melty)
Traction: 1
Torque: 1
Weapon: 2 (but really 16 because melty)
Armor: 10 (+2 tooth and outer ring)

This is basically a dumb joke name that turned into a robot. It's a melty-brain spinner with one tooth and one wheel, and it is purple / eats purple robots. A 10+ HP brushless motor drives the wheel at up to 6,000 rpm (despite the silly teaser song it isn't actually direct-drive), spinning the entire robot at over 2000 rpm. The speed at the tip of the 6 lb steel tooth is over 120 MPH - this may sound slow compared to other spinners, but because SPRE is spinning its entire body weight, a lot of which is at a high radius, it packs an absurd amount of kinetic energy.

Middleweight: Sekhmet

Image

Speed: 5
Traction: 3
Torque: 1
Weapon: 13
Armor: 8 (+2 front wedge/supports)

Named for the lion-headed Egyptian goddess of war and destruction, this vertical spinner packs a serious punch. The disc is only 22 lbs, not that heavy for the bot's weight, but it's made of 1.5" thick steel and very durable, and the single-toothed design and large radius allow it to be spun at over 4500 rpm while still having plenty of bite, and at top speed it stores 12,000 joules of divine wrath. The disc is spun by a long mag at 10S LiPo, which also gives it lots of torque compared to brushless-powered spinners. Even with the disc at low speeds Sekhmet can self-right immediately, but if it somehow gets flipped with the weapon stopped, the combination of wheels still touching the ground and the disc allow her to bounce over to a wheel and get back upright. The front wedge isn't really there for pushing, it's there to deflect other robots' attacks and feed them into the disc. A pair of sharp tool steel skids can be used to get under opponents' wedges, but they can also be left off for fights against horizontal spinners. The drivetrain isn't all that powerful, but it can still move the robot at a respectable 13 MPH, and the wide wheelbase gives Sekhmet good turning control without being affected too much by gyroscopic forces.

Heavyweight: TBA

Superheavyweight: GiantDad

Image

Speed: 6
Traction: 5
Torque: 3
Weapon: 5
Armor: 11

GIANTS, GIANTS, GIANTS. BECOME UNSTOPPABLE. WHAT R U CASUL?

...but seriously, GiantDad is a 4-bar flipper. It's powered by Aphelion's old pneumatic system - just as powerful as the one in Aphelion, but instead of throwing a heavyweight six feet in the air it throws a superheavyweight four feet (5 power * 6 inches + 18 inch stroke height). Since Ruination doesn't have OOTAs GiantDad's focus is on using its flipper to control the match and launch its victims into arena hazards. It's quick at 17 MPH and four-wheel drive gives it good control and pushing power. It's also very well-armored, and of course can self-right (without overrotating like Aphelion used to).

Here's the flipper's range of motion. Also here.

Alright I'm ready for choosing my robots :)

LW: Sweeper

Image

Speed: 6
Traction: 3
Torque: 1
Weapon: 13
Armour: 7

Sweeper hoists a spinning horizontal disc that can at create some damage or make clean gashes on the opponent's armour. the side and back of the robot are hinged instead of static wedge panels in order to avoid getting caught when being lifted up.

MW: Upchuck 3

Image

A major tweak from the shape of Upchuck, the "fattiness" of the previous two versions have cut down and has become slimmer and much more agile. The flipper has the similar look to the previous versions so it can be recognizable. The robot is 2WD so it is eligible to try and reach it's opponents and topple them over.

Stats:

Speed: 7
Traction: 6
Torque: 2
Weapon: 5
Armour: 10

HW:

Perforater

Perforater Reference

A brand new machine that is a completely unique design, the robot hoists a front hinged wedge that help assists the robot to get a better chance to have a power shot with the axe and pierce the top armament of the opponent. The machine has a 2 wheel drive system capable on having better turning capabilities.

The Axe is powered by a single gas canister giving it enough penetration when it's near the opponent. The armour is titanium steel.

Speed: 6
Traction: 5
Torque: 2
Weapon: 10
Armour: 7

SHW - Chemical Explosion III Series

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you the robot who is aiming to retain it's title from the Ruination tournament. Chemical Explosion&#33; But he's been completely revamped&#33;

http://imgur.com/SkNjgZZ

It may have the slight similar look to it's previous predecessor who won the Ruination: Contigation tournament, it returns once more tougher and badder than before, except that it had to have a complete reconfiguration after it's previous tournament. New side panels have been added in order to protect the tracked wheels that it still has, except with a different thread this time.

It has a couple of cooling fans to cool down the new motor system which operates the newly constructed drive system of the weapon, which is the classic spinning bar that makes it's return once more; the same design from the winning predecessor.

It can still run inverted too&#33;

Here are the stats of the brand new version of Chemical Explosion:

Speed: 6
Traction: 5
Weapon: 13
Armour: 5
Torque: 1
