Machina Non Grata vs Fork the Wind

Pat opens the match by driving forwards at full tilt and angels in on the forks, and it works. Machina non grata does a weird sideways spin in the air as it gets flipped, then FtW starts chaining the thing for a while actually. Several flips later manages to get enough time to recover control on the situation and we kinda restart.
Several angular maneuvers later McCheese Grater manages to get its own forks under and lands a smooth flip and the now flipped FtW hits the floor with the spinner and starts bouncing all over the arena. Super tries to follow the thing to get a few more flips but the thing is too erratic to follow so not much happens. Eventually the spinner runs out of momentum and the entire bot stops, staying flipped, kinda dead tbh.

Machina Non Grata wins by KO in 1:02

Darwinian Predator vs I Can't Believe it's not Tanto

Wedge fight is wedge fight. Predator gets under first and bites down on the compact wedge. It carries it around for awhile and eventually has to let go. But this time the pure wedge escapes and gets under the predator. Wall bashing time. Good times. Predator tries to make Tanto oversteer, but it is not significant enough for him to get under 4 of the 5 times he tries it. Tanto is then greeted by more wallface. Very back and forth matchup that ends rather uneventfully

Aggression: 3-2 DPGII
Damage: 3-2 Not Tanto
Control: 3-2 Not Tanto

ICBIN Tanto wind 8-7

Killjoy vs Cyan Printer Ink

The match kicks off with Killjoy box rushing, scooping up Cyan as it's still spinning up, crushes down... And promptly has the tooth of its grabber ripped clean off. It would seem Maxi's considered this opportunity when deciding to start upside down this match. Killjoy aggressively gums its opponent for a bit, before dumping it in the wall, giving them a moment to get free and spin up for a more traditional spinner vs wedge brawl. Cyan soon rides up the crusher's wedge, bouncing up the wedge and tilting the spinner down to neatly avoid Killjoy's neckbrace and whack dangerously close to the spinner hinge, as Killjoy grapples and tries to pin down Cyan. Since the arm's in such an odd position, combined with the lack of a tooth, this results in Killjoy blowing more chunks out of itself as it stops the spinner, clamped deep in its squishy bits.

With some finagling, the bots separate for some more approaches on one another. Killjoy does seem to win out on most collisions, but Cyan's still making its mark on Killjoy's wedge and neck brace with each one, soon buckling the former and eventually bending the latter back to the point of uselessness. In what looks to be the final collision of the match, Cyan rides the wedge, slipping all the way up, and delivers a hefty blow to Killjoy's crusher mount, shattering it! Killjoy's grabbing arm hangs limp and askew as the buzzer sounds, Cyan only having the time to slip itself free from its opponent, spinning down without much as a scratch on it.

Damage: 5-0 Cyan Printer Ink
Control: 4-1 Killjoy
Aggression: 3-2 Killjoy
Your winner, by an 8-7 decision, is Cyan Printer Ink!

Black Salvo vs Bone Hurting Juice

Oh hey look its brick vs spinner and the brick just box rushed. Are we surprised? No. did it work? Yes, and pressure’s put on BHJ for the first 20 seconds or so of the match before he finally squirrels free for long enough to finally get up to full speed instead of the 2/3 speed tombstone dance extravaganza that was the case until now.

BHJ tries some sort of juking maneuver. I think. They hit head-on and it’s one hell of a meaty hit as both bots go flying. As we recover looks like the front left wheel of BS didn’t appreciate that encounter. Slipped chain? Slightly deformed chassis? IDK I don’t actually build shit that’s what my team of Chinese wage slaves is for.

I wasn’t supposed to say that out loud was I. anyway there’s a reengage and BHJ goes for the head-on approach this time, and somehow is rewarded far less for doing the exact same thing. I guess BS angled into the hit better. Regardless it’s still a few impacts before the blade gets slowed, and that plow is definitely worse for wear, but BHJ is stifled for the time being up against a wall, and we all get to sit here and watch as the spinner feebly tries to escape the pin for 20 seconds or whatever the pin timer is these days I don’t really know tbh and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.

Eventually BHJ gets freeeeedom and runs away for a bit, giving BS a whole lotta ass as he slowly gets space to get back up to speed. This time we see BHJ’s juke actually work, as BS’s wheel seizes up again at a most inopportune time. This time BHJ’s able to hook around behind the plow and tear it off of at least half its mountings. BS might not look pretty after that, but it’s still working, and Dylan manages to corral the deathspinner again fairly handily as the match runs down.

Aggression: 4-1 Black Salvo
Damage: 5-0 Bone Hurting Juice
Control: 4-1 Black Salvo
Your winner, in an 8-7 split decision, is Black Salvo

Double Rainbow vs Dystopian Avenger

Both bots get rolling quickly, DR spinning up both bars, and DA just rushing the bot down. The ensuing impact spins both bots away, Noah not quite recovering enough to get a snipe in with the second blade, before they're back brawling again, this time DA managing to stop the spun-down blade, lifting up the rainbow bot until its other blade hits the floor, pinging it across the ring. DA's third attempt results in more scratches, but does let it get all the way under, lifting and rolling its opponent over, bulldozing it into the spinner. The floor spinner, mind you, DR isn't quite that fucked yet. Anyway, DR makes some angry hornet noises as its blades try to spin up on a spinning surface, struggling to maintain enough momentum to stay out of the hole for long, and DA doesn't make it any easier, being ready to catch out and re-dump DR each time it gets a wheel free. Eventually, however, DR does manage to spin free, getting up to speed, for another hefty collision, just before the final buzzer ends the match. Let's see what the teams scored.

Aggression: 3-2 Dystopic Avenger
Damage: 4-1 Double Rainbow
Control: 4-1 Dystopic Avenger

Your winner, by an 8-7 decision, is Dystopian Avenger!

Made in Heaven vs Flameout

The match starts with the successor to Hellmouth getting its back close to the wall, while the JJBA bot box rushes, then strafes to flank Flameout. However, with Flameout being close to the wall, it limits MIH's movement, so Flameout is able to try pointing itself, but MIH quickly backs off and resets. The second time, it is able to flank Flameout, quickly ramming and pinning it to the wall. When the timer runs out, Flameout tries to reposition itself, but MIH is waiting and quickly gets control again in a different approach, angling in on the forks successfully and lifting the bot up on the wedge, protecting MIH from the flamethrower. Flameout tries to squirm out, but MIH quickly drops it to the hazard, spinning it around. When Flameout is freed from it, MIH quickly gets control again.

The whole match soon goes more or less like this. MIH keeps getting control on Flameout with its speed, ramming, pinning, or dropping it on the hazard. MIH also changes its approach every time to make it unpredictable for Flameout. However, Flameout is sometimes able to keep up by wedging MIH a bit and flaming it, though MIH can quickly back off and get back to control before real damage is done. MIH also occasionally oversteers and opens itself to flanking, but it recovers quickly from that. Eventually as the match near its end with 20 seconds left, MIH is near the wall when it oversteer trying to control Flameout. Flameout takes this opportunity to pin MIH, but MIH escapes few seconds after being burned. MIH then tries to control Flameout again and manages t wedge it when the time runs out. As it does, the motors start smoking.

Judge's Decision:
Damage: 3-2 Flameout
Control: 4-1 Made in Heaven
Strategy: 4-1 Made in Heaven

Winner: Made in Heaven by 10-5 Judge's Decision

2A vs Duck Stab!

The match starts, and 2A immediately begins blasting as Duck Stab approaches, 2A clearly aiming for one of Duck Stab's wheels, shots plinking off the arena with a clack, clack, BLAM- And one of the spokes of DS' wheels is deleted from existence. Duck Stab, having completely lost structural integrity, topples and smacks its blade on the floor, giving 2A plenty of time to readjust and plant a few more shots on the chassis itself to ensure a complete death.

2A wins by KO in 0:34.

Lift Device vs Storm Worm

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY LIFT DEVICE. no like actually it's doing well in this fight, starting out strong forcing storm worm on to the back foot after an aggressive early rush goes poorly for him. storm worm wins the next microengagment, and what follows is a 20 second game of cat and mouse, controbot style. Lift Device has the speed and control. which is letting it back off more successfully from Storm worm, as drew tries again and again to take space so he can snowball with is flipper. eventually SW does do a fucky-wucky with the driving and ift device barrels on through. doesn't get that much done thing, Storm worm is nothing if not equipped with billions of moving parts.

another one of those longass times with no clear winner occurs - lift device's patience is interesting with the speed advantage he's shown himself to have by this point - and it's kind of like when a dude with a sword fights someone with a spear. he's out-reached by storm worm and looking for a mistake - or an error on the part of the machine again. storm worm is looking for these too, and does punish, but LD's able to zip back/j-hook pretty cleanly most of the time (though he did eat a risky pop of the flipper just now), and eventually fond that mistake. this time it's a decent pinball, and storm worm spends some time flailing around on the ramp before he gets free.

guess what. neutral. that's where these bots live. these bots thrive - and where drew has finally had enough time to figure out billy's game and pull some mad reads on him. he manages to catch billy off guard, getting just enough of a fork underneath to get most of LD's wheels off of the ground, then predicting the direction he tries to move to get free and getting in a quick flip. he's able to drag this out for most of the rest of the match, using his lifter forks to keep LD from getting back up right for a bit, then continuing to chase it around the arena, cornering LD at the bell.

Aggression: 3-2 Storm Worm
Damage: 3-2 Lift Device
Control: 3-2 Lift Device

Your winner, in a split decision, is Lift Device!

crouton.net vs Stealth Cobra

HIGHLIGTED: crouton.net snowballed early game, but was not able to amount significant damage in the early fight, and that allowed stealth cobra to eventually start figuring out his patterns of attack, and eventually get a significant flip snowball into the end of the fight.

Aggression: 3-2 crouton.net
Damage: 3-2 crouton.net
Control: 3-2 Stealth Cobra

Your winner, in an 8-7 Decision, is crouton.net!

Multiply and Surrender vs ACME Chomper Bot
If I manage to get under the side of M&S quickly close the clamping weapon enough to cease one of the tank threads to stop moving when clamped
oh no bbygirl what are you doing?

Multiply and Surrender gets under for the first few exchanges, before ACME Chomper Bot manages to slip under and get that clamp.

...ACME is then promptly shoved into the wall by M&S. He has 7 torque and your wedge barely removes any of his tracks off the ground, what did you think was gonna happen? It takes ACME a good 2 or 3 more ass-slam to the arena walls before TBR realizes "hm. perhaps this is not working out" and settles for just lifting M&S whenever it gets under.

That said, wasting a solid 1:00+ on a bad strat isn't gonna be a good look for the judges. It also still has some difficulties actually keeping M&S on the lifter and not having it just back off, but it's better than whatever was happening earlier.

Both bots manage to get each other on the spinner at least once in the match, with M&S receiving exactly 1 damage from it while ACME suffers none whatsoever. I know Gabe doesn't want strategies entirely hinging on zany CBC-style hazards, but this is a bit much innit?

Aaand lastly, M&S almost incurs Repeated Hits[tm] damage via repeatedly bumping ACME into the wall, but not quite. Close though!

AGG: 4-1 Multiply and Surrender
DMG: 3-2 ACME Chomper Bot
CTL: 4-1 Multiply and Surrender

Multiply and Surrender wins by a 10-5 judge's decision.

Do Not Touch! vs Dardanera

Spinning weapon one and spinning weapon two do the thing they do best. Billy is really betting all the marbles on getting DNT to oversteer greatly. It does it's best to rush forward and takes a snack from the bar. Both get knocked back and while DNT looks a bit shaken from the impact, wheels don't look to be on the menu tonight. Another few good hits, one of them sending DNT upwards, but not quite on their back. The wedge is starting to show some wear. Another exchange and DNT gets flipped over. However it's bar has also slowed and another hit from Dardanera sends it close to a wall. However, it is able to bounce away via the spinner and almost get back up to speed. We see the discs taking another pop at DNT and a fork comes off of Dardanera. DNT reverses and tries to get a better position, but the vert will not let him. The wedge is looks all kind of beat up at this point, but the spinner is still running. The buzzer signals that the match has ended

Aggression: 3-2 Dardanera
Damage: 4-1 Do Not Touch
Strategy: 5-0 Dardanera

Dardanera wins 9-6

Rooster Teeth vs Avanti!

The match starts, and Avanti punches it toward Rooster Teeth. Meanwhile Rooster Teeth’s operator is... a fish of some sort? How did he get there? I don’t know what kind it is (maybe Avanti’s driver does), but it appears to be driving well as Rooster Teeth narrowly avoids the box rush! Unfortunately, The weapon doesn’t seem to be spinning as fast as it should, and Avanti quickly gets under anyway, taking only a glancing blow from the weapon. Avanti slams Rooster Teeth into the wall, and a puff of smoke comes out from under the shell. More smoke comes as Rooster Teeth is pushed into the arena hazard 30 seconds in. and Rooster Teeth has stopped moving! I’ve never seen a fish so panicked in my life! Rooster Teeth is counted out, and Avanti has claimed victory!

Avanti! wins by FF in 0:51!

Spectrals vs Apeirogon II

Now we have a match between a new cluster speedwedge against a CBC4 quarterfinallist, returning in an upgraded form. Before the match starts, it should be clarified that Spectrals wedges are hinged, but in 360 degrees. Spectrals start by rushing the front of Apeirogon at an angle. Both bots soon get under and start pushing the VS into the wall, pinning it. However, Apeirogon fires its arm to free itself and manages to get some distance before being controlled again. However Spectrals go for different driving style each time. Apeirogon also responds by various tactics however to confuse both bots in turn, like pretending to be distracted with one bot. It also keeps escaping by firing its arm.

The match keeps going like this when around the halfway mark, Apeirogon is able to get enough room to fight. It finally manages to angle under one of the cluster's wedges, then immediately smacks its arm with VS on before the cluster can escape quickly, obliterating most of the bot. Once this happens, the fight becomes easier. Apeirogon focuses on the remaining bot, aggressively chasing it, though even with less weight, the other unit of Spectrals is sometimes able to push Apeirogon a bit and pin it at one point. The match soon ends when Apeirogon gets a hit on the other cluster at just 1 seconds left, wrecking that too.
Judge's Decision
Damage: 5-0 Apeirogon II
Control: 3-2 Spectrals
Agression: 3-2 Spectrals

Winner: Apeirogon II by 9-6 Judge's Decision

This Side down vs !#%$?

TSD chugs toward the other end of the arena at a surprising pace- seems like it's gotten faster since last we saw it! Punctuation scutters off and begins spinning it's weapon.

SNNNNIIFFFFFFF
mm yes... is that... is that rotary engine fuel my dear??
SSSSNNNIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFF
mmmm how pungent :)) quite stinky indeed!

Black-red wedge is unphased by the odorous semi-sphere as it slides under with ease and shoves !#%$? into a wall. It bounces off, landing in position for another ram. TSD obliges. Heated Gamer Moment lands even closer to the wall. You'll never guess what happens next.

This continues for a while, with TSD successfully pinning !#%$? into a corner and holding it there for a solid 10 full seconds. Note: TSD only let go because the referee started giving Tri a nasty side-eye for the pin timer. To it's credit, Punctuation has gotten a good few hits in. Nothing major in terms of damage, but TSD's front has a few bruises in it.

Oh and I guess TSD fires the flipper at some point. It's more of a hood accessory, really.

AGG: 4-1 This Side Down
DMG: 4-1 !#%$?
CTL: 4-1 This Side Down

This Side Down wins by a 9-6 judge's decision.

Firewave vs Bedlam Yard
Unfortunately, it seems that Rocket has gotten sick again, so she has to pull out from the competition. Before this however, a random reserve driver is picked from the interested audience for Bedlam Yard. After this, we can start the match. Bedlam Yard first starts spinning up, and while it's track help it settle on the ground, it still gyros a bit while turning. Firewave exploits this by hitting the disc after getting its tribar spun up in 3 seconds. This throws Bedlam Yard and causes it to land on its back when it hits a wall. Firewave then quickly rushes in and obliterates a track, then quickly follows with a hit to the main chassis, destroying it and throwing out parts.

Winner: Firewave by FF KO (00:21)

Obey vs Machina non Grata
The match starts off pretty quick, with the bots jostling for position. OBEY gets under MNG first, toppling and smashing it into the wall at high speed, leaving it stacked for a bit, with OBEY working on maintaining the pin. After a bit of flipper action, MNG manages to get away, self-righting and getting back to fighting. After a good while of stalling and jostling, MNG gets control, quickly catching OBEY in a chain of flips, one landing OBEY atop the outer wall. After a bit of finagling, Gabe's free again, only to be scooped and immediately put back on the wall by MNG. After 45 solid second of OBEY trying its best to actually fight, it gets away. The rest of the fight goes fairly similarly, with OBEY getting control of the match more frequently, but MNG performing far more with each chance it gets. This is gonna be a tight one.

Damage: 3-2 Machina Non Grata
Control: 3-2 OBEY
Aggression: 3-2 Machina Non Grata

Your winner, by an 8-7 decision, is Machina Non Grata!

Powershaft vs I Can't Believe it's not Tanto
The match starts with Powershaft trying to angle in with its slower speed and similar traction and torque. However, ICBINT also tries to angle in with its superior speed. Powershaft gets to its top speed first, but it's not much as ICBINT eventually get to its top speed too. Both bots soon eventually try to angle in each other, with Powershaft being careful. Despite of this, ICBINT's speed and aggression beats that measure when it gets under Powershaft head-on. Even with its wheels slightly on the back, Powershaft struggles to back up because of its low ground clearance. Instead it eats few rams and a trip to the hazard before it can escape.
The match then keeps going like this. Occasionally, Powershaft is able to get under and lift ICBINT, only for ICBINT to escape its opponent quickly before it can really get meaningfully controlled by the lifts, or even quickly back off before getting lifted in the first place. This means that most of the controls goes to ICBINT. Eventually, the match comes to its conclusion, with Powershaft being dumped on the spinning hazard after being constantly rammed, with Powershaft showing bits of damage in its chassis from the repeated hits.
Judge's Decision:
Damage: 3-2 ICBINT
Control: 4-1 ICBINT
Aggression: 4-1 ICBINT
Winner: I Can't Believe It's Not Tanto by 11-4 Judge's Decision

Deposit This in Your Bank of Choice vs Cyan Printer Ink
Oh boy oh boy, what do we have here? Two spinners that OHKO each other if they get a chassis? EZ result EZ life. I give this maybe 30 seconds tops.

DTIYBoC and CPI both spin up their weapon, and they approach slowly. Almost there, almost there, almost... wait did CPI always look like that? It's balanced on two wedgelet-appendages beneath the chassis and flying it's disc high in the air. DTI(etc etc) "rushes" in, looking to snipe one of the limbs off of CPI. The disc comes down and slices the edge of (VERY LONG NAME). CPI does a barrel roll like 7-8ish feet in the air before landing upside down. Or rightside up? Whichever one has the limbs sticking up. As for Deposit... yeah, that's a stalled up spinner. CPI slaps DTIYBoC around a couple more times for funsies and magic smoke starts pouring out. GG.

Heaven Jaws vs Split Personality
The match starts with both bots charging head-on, Split Personality leading with the sad face first. They collide, and Heaven Jaws has its opponent in its grasp… for a bit, before Split Personality gets a hit or two in with the axe and flops out the side of Heaven Jaws’s lifter. It begins to push to the side of Heaven Jaws, but has a hard time connecting on its axe blows before Heaven Jaws escapes. Heaven Jaws goes back on the offensive, but a bout of oversteer gives Split Personality the position to score more hits. Finally, about 40 seconds in, Heaven Jaws gets its first good lift, slamming Split Personality into the corner opposite the arena hazard.

The fight goes along in this manner, the slippery Split Personality occasionally escaping Heaven Jaws’ grasp with its unwieldy design, but rarely getting repeated hits on anything but air in return. Still, both are racking up points. In the waning moments, a missed attack from Split Personality sets up a perfect hold for Heaven Jaws, but Split Personality counters by attacking the lifting mech’s axle half a dozen times in just 5 seconds! This abuse causes the lifter to go limp, releasing Split Personality to Heaven Jaws’ rear. Mystic tries to react, but oversteer strikes again, as does Split Personality, dealing minor damage to Heaven Jaws’ left-front wheel before time runs out.

Damage: 5-0 Split Personality
Aggression: 3-2 Split Personality
Control: 3-2 Heaven Jaws

Split Personality wins via 10-5 judges’ decision!

XO vs 2A
2A: (placeholder)

From the start of the match, 2A is bringing the heat, and XO is not equipped to deal with it. To it’s credit, XO’s starting position shenanigans + drive actually allows it to dodge, but once 2A readjusts, it’s Noah’s match. He takes aim, fires and hits. Again, and again and again. By the time XO is in range to use it’s weapon, 2A has already landed a decent amount of hits, which do 4 damage at a minimum. XO’s armor is compromised, and the flipper is basically dead, but the bot is still working. Unfortunately....

Also 2A: (placeholder)

Noah just lets the cannon rip. 6 per second, point blank range, and against heavily damaged armor (which wasn’t the tankiest at best). XO is left skidding away, all shot up. It even catches on fire to boot.

Lil Yeetums vs Lift Device
very cool not marking what your x/x/x/x/x statline means billy
very cool not declaring your config frog
also, lift device's statline in the signups thread seems to be different than it's statline in the RP thread?
eh...
From what I can tell, Billy's rolling with 8spd/8tra/3tor/3wep/8arm while Frog is running with the forks. If I'm wrong here, please feel free to pipebomb my mailbox Ted Kaczynski style.

Anyway,
Lift Device is quick to take control of the match off the bat, until things slow down to both bots simply just squaring up for an angle-in fest. Lift Device is indeed faster and more controlled than Yeetums by a noticeable margin, but it's narrow 6 wheel drive setup proves to be a liability when it comes to turning. But Billy doubles down on this by trying to do "small swerves" and "other tactics" (??). Honestly, if you didn't have perfect spd:tra here Yeetums would be totally clowning on you right now. But alas, it at least kinda works.

Yeetums eventually slips up like a minute into this prissy-dance and gets flipped over. With it still for the time being, Lift Device is able to do what it's clearly designed to: drive forward. The Ford Lift Truck 2001 slams on the gas into the upended Yeetums in an attempt to turn it to roadkill. It pushes LY for maybe a second or 2 before the flipper goes off on top of LD's ramp wedge and flings Yeetums like halfway across the arena. Thank you physics.

The last 2 minutes sees Yeetums getting a good handful of pot shots in. Not enough to start inflicting serious damage- and that's a damn shame, because I really wanted to write LD's lifter crapping out from repeated hits. It's at least enough to score some good boy points from the judges, and that's fine with how little time's remaining. Seems like YD overall takes control near the end of the match, with Lift Device getting tossed against the wall multiple times. Only question: is it enough times to matter?
AGG: 3-2 Lift Device
DMG: 3-2 Lil' Yeetums

Skully vs Black Lagoon II
Black Lagoon II is straight out of the gate, already setting up his hit on Skully. Both bots are going for a weapon-to-weapon collision, and Skully is aggressively approaching (as aggressively as a 4 speed bot can really approach it's opponent). Both weapons are up to speed, an-

B̸A̸M̸

Both bots are absolutely flung from the collision, Black Lagoon II moreso because of mecanums. Once everything's calmed down, we can see the aftermath. Skully's disc has taken some minor damage, but for the most part all is well. Black Lagoon on the other hand....

notsomuch.

Noah knew where to aim his hugefuckoff disc, and it shows. The supports for Black Lagoon II's first drum are totaled, and obviously the weapon is non-operable. Gabe is concerned, but not too concerned. He has two weapons after all, and knows how to adjust his strategy. Thus begins Black Lagoon II dancing around Skully. Unfortunately for Gabe, Noah isn't biting, meaning he'll have to go in again. Some failed attempts to flank only confirm it, so Gabe picks a new angle of attack, and rushes i-

C̶R̸A̷S̵H̸

Unfortunately for Black Lagoon, the second attempt went about as well as the first. Both drums are out of commission now, their supports taken out. That leaves a slow, weaponless bot with mecanums vs a slow disc bot, which means we have to watch for a minute or so while Gabe runs away from Noah until he finally catches him and deals the KO blow.

Skully wins by KO, 1:22

Invertical vs splattual
The fight begins with Pat not? spinning his weapon, meanwhile Frogboi decided to take out the front plate for some reason, at least he is planning on using his weapon it seems.
Pat takes the initiative and goes for the angle to pop up his opponent and mess with it, for the entire match. He eats a few hits on the arm but it's he seems to be holding up fine. It's not some kind of a clownstomp but splattual is dominating the match without even using the spinner.
After a bit over two minutes and several trips to the walls and the spiny hazard of complete uselessness, the hits add up enough that Invertical snaps the lifting arm of it's opponent in half. The match then goes downhill from there but not in a overwhelmingly one sided way somehow.

Damage: 5-0 Invertical
Control: 3-2 splattual
Aggression: 4-1 splattual

Shock Therapy vs Dardanera

The arena has been instantly invaded by a random swarm of possibly Africanized honeybees for the duration of precisely 3 minutes, so we have ported the match over to RA2 for this fight only. What? Dardanera wins via FF in 0:00

Hallucinogen vs Avanti!
Hallucinogen revs up, rushing at Avanti, but Avanti manages to squeak under its wedge, dumping it in the hole. It takes a rather uncomfortable amount of time for the drumbot to get out of the spinny hole thing, but it does, getting back to brawling again. This time, it does manage to get under Avanti, shunting it back and nibbling at its chassis, though this doesn't do terribly much to the wedge as it gets back away soon enough and back on the offensive. That about sums up the right really, with Hallucinogen spending about a third of the fight struggling to escape the weird spinny hole thing, and the rest battling for wedge supremacy with Avanti but not really able to pull off too much with it. Eventually, however, the buzzer goes, ending the fight.

Damage: 3-2 Hallucinogen
Control: 4-1 Avanti
Aggression: 3-2 Hallucinogen

Your winner, by an 8-7 decision, is Avanti!

Week THREE

An * asterisk indicates that a match is already partially or fully RP'd for. Additionally, the rest of the tournament will be run as a single-elimination bracket.

Featherweights //

Dystopian Avenger vs Made in Heaven *
hide can you please take some closer screenshots of your wheels, i have to squint to see whether or not they're omnis :V

Half-torque penalty or not, the speed disparity between the two robots coming out of the gate is big enough that the possibility of flanking becomes a legitimate question... uuuntiiiil Made in Heaven eventually slips up, anyway. Perfect traction trump card, baybee.

If it really wanted to, Dystopian Avenger could literally just sit in place the entire match and watch MiH make a clown out of itself as it futilely tries to flank DA. But that's obviously not the case, since W0lf wants those yummy aggression points from the inevitable judge's decision. He rolls in, they meet head-to-head, and MiH winds up getting under the first time around. DA gets pushed back like 5-10 feet before going "wait" and proceeding to mash forward up and onto MiH's chassis. Hide thinks to himself "maybe I should add anti-monstertrucking spikes" which he will totally do if he decides to enter this type of bot into a future event. Hint hint, not-so-subtle nudge.

This continues for more or less the rest of the match. With DA getting under both more often and being able to make better use of it's time when in advantage state, things go one-sided pretty quickly. Lots of lifts and almost-wall-slams, but not quite. Still better than what little MiH is able to string together, in any case.

Also the arena hazard sheds a tear because MiH never goes onto it at any point to receive the 1 (one) damage the spinner deals to bots under 5 armor. This is so sad guys.

AGG: 3-2 Dystopian Avenger
DMG: 3-2 Made in Heaven
CTL: 4-1 Dystopian Avenger

Dystopian Avenger wins by a 9-6 judge's decision.

Cyan Printer Ink vs Firewave
Firewave shoots out a big fireball, which Cyan Printer Ink counters by spraying some (very expensive) printer ink to douse it. CPI moves in and gives Firewave's car engine motor a good spritz, stalling it and stopping the weapon. A couple of shots from the disc later and we have an easy KO.

Cyan Printer Ink wins by TKO in 0:00 (FF).

Featherweight Sportsman //

Ori vs Multiply and Surrender *
NOOOO YOU CANT JUST PUT 7 POINTS INTO TORQUE
hahahah bot goes nyoom

That’s obviously a oversimplification, but it is somewhat accurate. Ori is fast, and driven aggressively, but MaS consistently rushes in with absurdly quick acceleration and goes to town with the clamp n’ stuff combo (yes there is a hammer and flamethrower, but the hammer does no damage and what the flamethrower does is negligible), driving Ori all across the arena. It’s not like Ori sits down and takes it though. As mentioned before, HFL goes in aggressively, and makes a lot out of when he gets under (although it’s a bit less than MaD), flipping MaD everywhich way. Quick and clever driving saves MaS from any serious damage though.

I’d elaborate more, but the match is more or less a repetitive cycle of what I just mentioned.

So, yea.

Aggression: 4-1, Multiply and Surrender
Damage: 3-2, Multiply and Surrender
Control: 3-2, Multiply and Surrender

Multiply and Surrender wins a 10-5 JD

Split Personality vs !!BITEME!!
Okay, let's look at the designs here.

Split Personality: abnormally fast and wide hammer with plenty of range.
vs
!!BITEME!!: Far slower crusher with a very short wedge.

And since Pat's strategy here doesn't have any out-of-the-box tactics to mitigate this, the ensuing match is pretty cut and dry here. SP spaces out its attacks so that it hits !!BM!!, then runs away. Hit, run. Hit, run. 3 minutes. This is about as boring as you'd imagine it to be.

There is one moment where it appears SP flies too close to the sun and !!BM!! starts bringing the crusher down, but only lands with the very tip and ends up overbalancing, allowing SP to escape for free. Good grief...

AGG: 3-2 Split Personality
DMG: 3-2 Split Personality
CTL: 4-1 Split Personality

Split Personality wins by a 10-5 judge's decision.

Lightweight //

This Side Down vs MORE PUZZLES *
thump thump thump

oh lawd he comin

thump thump thump

whoosh

That sums up the first minute or so of the fight. This Side Down pussyfooting around MORE PUZZLES, shoving it around a bit. You know, "the wedge thing". It delivers MP to the spinner, which does so little damage that I'm starting to question the point of this quote-unquote "hazard". I guess it's grounds for +1 point if this goes to a judge's decision, at least?

TSD's gameplan starts to falter after that. "We do an OK job at tanking them too" bro no you don't you die in like 4 hits. The match lasts a bit longer due to MP not being very accurate in where it's shots land, but eventually the damage adds up and TSD receives a huge gash down the middle. Flipper and right wheel are gone, that's a tap out.

MORE PUZZLES wins by KO in 1:56.

Invertical vs Cross Check
Invertical decides to use the config without the big wedges in favor of the spinier spinner while Cross Check chooses the [object Object] config.
The fight starts, Frog takes a more defensive approach while Super just likes his s p e e d or something, he easily angles in on Invertical's corner (with no wedge at all), then he adjusts his position to Invertical's middle while pushing it before using the lifter to tip it over on its back. Thankfully Invertical is an Invertible vertical spinner, who would of thought?
Superbomb seems to be very good driver in the art of "being an annoying piece of shit" and stuffs Frog around for a while, eventually he does manage to get in control and get his wedge under, landing a good flip that flips Cross Check, which is capable of self righting with it's weapon.
I am not mentally healthy enough to bother to effectively write all of that again a few times with different wording but that is how the first half and a bit more of the fight goes.
Something something Super kinda fucks up the timing of using the lifter and the thing takes a direct hit and now it's g o n e. Does this completely change the direction of the fight in Frog's favor? not really tbh. All it really does is make Cross Check not invertible, it can still drive inverted now so all that changes is that if Invertical gets a flip it will get a free hit right after.
The time eventually runs out, Invertical destroyed the lifter but the rest of Cross Check is almost intact and no one bothered with the useless hazards.

Damage: 5-0 Invertical
Control: 4-1 Cross Check
Aggression: 4-1 Cross Check

Your winner, by an 8-7 decision, is Cross Check!

Lift Device vs Crazy Diamond
Both robots come rushing at each other out of the gate, and immediately we see two very different strategies: Crazy Diamond goes on the offensive with it's hammers, while Lift Device squares up the opponent and tries to find a way around said hammers. That's... easier said than done, considering they cover the entire front and then some. LD takes a shot to the side, swiveling CD on itself who then gets into position to strike again. Bang bang, doraoraora.

This doesn't last for long, as LD is quick to turn and lift one of the hammers. It works, albeit with LD taking more hits than is optimal. CD ends up stranded on it's back, leaving it open to more aggression from LD. Things go in LD's favor from there, at least for a bit. It's allowed to pancake CD over sideways and shove it into the hazard for some actual damage. 1 damage, but still. Better than nothing.

Worse than nothing, however, is when CD finally frees itself from the spinner and starts wailing on LD's front again. It gets another few hits in, gets popped up, falls back down, and another few hits later, LD starts having some serious issues with its front two drive motors. The rear 4 wheels are still very much active, but the front 2 are done for. With it's drivetrain partially compromised, this leaves LD slower than CD and allows for further wailing. Crazy Diamond activates "Did you just insult my hair?" mode and goes ham on LD's front corners, further mangling them beyond recognition and eventually resulting in two more of the drive motors going. Unfortunately, these end up being on the same side, leaving LD unable to show anything more than a crabwalk. 10 count, we're done here.

Crazy Diamond wins by KO in 2:10.

Week FIVE

Featherweights //

Machina Non Grata vs Dystopian Avenger

The fight starts with Dystopian Avenger rushing at full throttle towards it's opponent, but it immediately gets completely SHREDDED by the Cheese Grater Machine.
Machina Non Grata wins by TKO (FF) in 0:00.

I Can't Believe It's Not Tanto vs Cyan Printer Ink

Ethan kicks off this match with, would you believe it, a box rush, right into CPI, who seems to be doing a weird pushup with its blade as it approaches. CPI bounces up as the bots collide, spinner drifting slightly to the right as the bounce combined with Tanto's own speed lets it slip over the blocker, ripping a chunk out of the tyre foam as ICBINT slams it into the wall, fully stopping the disk. Tanto gains a noticeable hobble in its step as it eventually backs up, CPI getting a bit more spin in its blade as they collide again. Tanto keeps control, however, slamming it back into the wall, followed by the floor spinner. After a bit of finagling from Maxi whilst Ethan works a bit of the roughness out of Tanto's shredded tyre, the fight resumes, though this time CPI is able to get its way once again, pivoting its blade down mid-rush, splitting the tread entirely on Tanto's wheel. As the skidding wedge shreds the remainder, CPI's able to escape and rev up its spinner to full power. Tanto isn't quite immobile, though running on one rim has severely hampered their control. Put on the defense, Ethan does their best to keep the wedge facing in the right spot, but they're only able to fend off CPI's continued attacks for a dozen or so seconds. A sly hit strikes the hub directly, cracking it, and a finishing blow rips it clean off of the chassis.
Cyan Printer Ink wins by KO in 1:41.

Featherweight Sportsman //

2A vs Multiply and Surrender

We have a clash of the titans tonight, folks!

2A’s packing a minibot this time, namely the cute, somewhat little No Steppy! Meanwhile, Multiply and Surrender is equipped with the sturdy :b:amplate!

The match starts with No Steppy circling 2A as Multiply and Surrender quickly begins to close in. No Steppy changes course suddenly as 2A approaches M&S and opens fire. Maxi quickly begins turning his bot to spread the damage from the oncoming shots, but the left side of the :b:amplate still appears to cave into the chassis after about a dozen shots. Maxi, seeing the damage and No Steppy’s position to the right-front of 2A, decides to charge. No Steppy also charges, however, and its slam into Multiply and Surrender’s corner, coupled with 2A’s retreat to its right, prove just enough to divert M&S from iramming 2A. Maxi’s bot quickly resets as 2A holds fire, waiting for No Steppy’s retreat.

Maxi will not be deterred, and M&S charges after No Steppy in 2A’s direction, all flamethrowers blazing. No Steppy switches from reversing to its teammate to trying to fend off M&S. Again, M&S is able to go overtop of No Steppy, but not without exposing the left corner as No Steppy high-centers it slightly. 2A fires again, catching M&S, initially on the :b:amplate, denting the already damaged side, before hitting a track, blowing it right off. M&S limps off of No Steppy with its remaining track, but the pesky little bot comes back to lift Multiply and Surrender enough to limit mobility even more. With his opponent out of options, Noah uses the rest of his shots to reduce a 25-pound bot to glorified ballistic gel.

This is Noah’s world, and we’re just living in it

2A (and No Steppy!) wins via knockout in 0:53!

Crazy Diamond vs Split Personality

And here we have a hammer that does more damage by ramming its opponent vs a… a side hammer… This is going to be interesting.

The match starts, and both bots quickly meet near the center of the arena. Crazy Diamond tries to fake left, but can’t get the power down to go back to the right before Split Personality catches it and begins raining down hits as it pushes Crazy Diamond toward a wall. Crazy Diamond wiggles free after a few and tries to strafe in a circle. This creates sufficient space, and Crazy Diamond charges at one of Split Personality’s corners. It fires in time to do some damage, creating a visible dent in Split Personality’s side. Before it can score another hit, however, Split Personality is back in control and striking again. Crazy Diamond tries to get free, but Split Personality manages to put it into a corner, dealing several more blows and riddling the top armor of Crazy Diamond with dents and even a couple holes.

Split Personality eventually has to release, allowing Crazy Diamond to escape. Despite the visible damage, Crazy Diamond seems to be working normally at it strafes again. It goes for another fake, darting to Split Personality’s side and making contact with one of its hammers. This doesn’t seem to do much damage, but Split Personality is pushed to Crazy Diamond’s side, allowing the latter to finally get a meaty strike from Split Personality’s right side and punch a hole in its front armor. Split Personality gets away as Crazy Diamond attempts to give chase. Near the entrance corner, Split Personality turns to face Crazy Diamond again.
Crazy Diamond attempts to fake, which Tri predicts and rewards with another flurry of axe blows and a trip to the arena hazard. After about the third hit in this series, a puff of white smoke emerges from Crazy Diamond’s top, followed by billowing clouds of it as Crazy Diamond is tossed by the arena hazard and into a wall. The weapon appears non-functional, fire begins, and the drive eventually quits, giving Split Personality the knockout victory. I guess that little axe has some power to it, after all.

Split Personality wins via knockout in 2:16!

Lightweight //

Apeirogon II vs MORE PUZZLES

"Of course the player went genocide route, now who's going to fight Maxi?"
Apeirogon II wins via FF in 0:00!

Avanti! vs Cross Check
So, a couple issues with the Underall wedgelets: they aren’t spring-loaded, like mine, and-
I hate to break it to you dawg, but this isn't RA2 where everyone gives their bots burst motor wedges. Your wedges are effectively the same outside of stuff like placement and length, sit down.

Both bots rush toward one another, and Cross Check starts angling backward to try and juke out Avanti. This works like, once. That one time is good enough for Cross Check to nyoom in and get 20+ seconds of free pancake-flipping across the arena and a wall-pin. Not a free "win match instantly" card by any means, but definitely puts Cross Check in a well-off position with the judges.

Avanti is eventually freed and gets a chance to retaliate, choosing to try angling in. Cross Check also angles in. The end result is both bots kinda pussyfooting around each other for the next minute and accomplishing nothing of value. Eventually Cross Check pounces, finds it's wedgelets jammed between the spaces in Avanti's own wedges, and tries pushing from there. Bad idea! Avanti proves to be the more pushy of the two and backs Cross Check up halfway across the box. Cross Check tries to retreat but finds Avanti chasing it to the wall. Avanti also tries ramming it's wedgelets into Cross Check's weapon sprocket, but physics (and the damage scale) doesn't seem to be buying it and Avanti winds up atop Cross Check, soon after getting chucked by the flipper yet again. Both bots trade back and forth during the last minute of the match, with a couple of stray shots from the spinner courtesy of Cross Check. Hardly any damage gets inflicted to Avanti, but it's the thought that counts.

AGG: 3-2 Cross Check
DMG: 3-2 Cross Check

Cross Check wins by a 9-6 judge's decision

!! FINALS !!

Featherweights //

Machina Non Grata vs Cyan Printer Ink

Finals! Get hype. (airhorn.wav)

Wait, what do you mean it's another brick vs spinner matchup? Oh boy...

Well, in any case, this match starts out about the way you'd expect it to at this point. Brick go wee, spinner go brrr, that sort of thing. Machina Non Grata (which I think is latin for "Machine Not Welcome" or something?) decides to REALLY go hard on the "wee"ing here, as it's intending to box rush and smother. MNG bashes into Cyan Printer Ink's spinner, which causes the rest of the bot to skid away towards a nearby wall. Taking advantage of this, MNG proceeds to pin CPI for a solid 10 or 15 seconds until it's forced to let go by the ref.

Things take a slight turn from there, as the rest of MNG's pin attempts aren't nearly as successful. They don't turn out badly, per se, but just kinda... eh. It's mostly just CPI rebounding off of MNG's front and being able to withdraw before the wedge is able to come in and attack further. CPI keeps trying to bring the spinner down on MNG's chassis top to no avail, it's hit-and-run strategy proving to be quite effective in preventing CPI's wheel-sniping cheese. The match ends with a whimper, CPI notably being unable to shear off MNG's front plates.

AGG: 4-1 Machina Non Grata
DMG: 4-1 Cyan Printer Ink
CTL: 4-1 Machina Non Grata

Machina Non Grata wins by a 9-6 judge's decision, and is your ROBOT4 FW champion!

Featherweight Sportsman //

2A vs Split Personality

This is the ROBOT4 Sportsman grand final, wear your seatbelt as this is going to be some real fast paced action.
In the red square, we got 2A, the extremely dominating machine gun bot that acts as proof that the sportsman division was a bad idea.
In the blue square, we have Split Personality, it may clearly be the underdog here but this fast aggressive hammer made it here for a reason, even if before the event started i said that this bot specifically is going nowhere. In the interview before the fight the team captain said that the bot is built specifically to be able to sustain the damage in this fight without losing functionality even if the external chasis looks likes its getting completely munched, thanks to it's void dimensional architecture.

The fight starts, Split Personality immediately rushes at full tilt while 2A only inches forwards a bit before finding a nice comfy spot near the corner and takes a nap there. A pair of seconds later the 350+lb boomer driving 2A adjusts his MAGA hat before using his greasy fingers to move some dials and switches on his controller, 2A starts shooting at a nice steady rate. Split Personality continues rushing forwards the american while getting shot and boy it doesn't look good, each individual shot is breaking through the armor and dealing some noticeable damage to th... wait am i seeing shots coming out of the back of Split Personality?
At around this point Noah moves a thing and 2A is now in full auto shooting at the advertised 6 shots per second and SP is not liking it. That won't stop it tho and a second later it does close the distance and use what once was it's angry face to ram into the long exposed cannon and he does bend it a noticeable amount. SP continues to drive into 2A with its hammer in position to hit but it isn't actually doing anything, i would be surprised if it still worked somehow tbh.
What will Noah do now with the bent cannon? Of course he will just continue firing, less than a second later the entire visible part of the cannon blows up along with part of 2A's front panel, and 2A is still shooting! With a messed up barrel that also happens to be a third of its original length there probably is no real accuracy in the gun but that doesn't really matter here as it's target is quite literally on its face.
Split Personality is barely recognizable at this point but the drivetrain is still functional is the bot very much is still making damage with ram attacks while getting shot. The machine gun is still dealing serious damage and it looks like like half the shots are going through the entirety of SP and coming out on the rear end, and then it looks like one hit a rear wheel as one of those just popped out flying and hit the wall in the other corner of the arena in no time. Soon after Split Personality splits into two blobs and a somewhat recognizable hammer assembly. 2A spends the next like 2 seconds making Swiss cheese out of the bigger blob (the one that looks like it still has two "wheels") before the shooting stops and you can clearly hear some fast repeated ticks as it looks like the thing ran out of ammo finally.

Yeah so saying that Split Personality is now just a bunch of damaged parts scattered on the floor isn't enough to describe it.

2A wins via knockout in 0:17!
2A is now the undisputed champion of the ROBOT4 Sportsman Division, who would of thought?

Apeirogon II vs Cross Check

The final match of ROBOT4 is here, folks! Let's clean this up.

Cross Check is off like a rocket immediately, scooping up Apeirogon and slamming it into the wall, the blade glancing off the top of CC's lifter as it pins it. A bit more finagling, and Apeirogon is over, though quickly self-righting and rolling off of CC as the hockeybot begins its next assault. Another tussle, another clipping shot atop CC as Apeirogon is rolled, this time into the pit, which almost instantly throws Apeirogon out, luckily. The two close in once more, but this time, Apeirogon's able to slip under, sparks flying off of CC's bottom plate as it's shunted back, before Apeirogon gets enough traction to launch CC into the air, up and over. A quick self-right from CC, and Apeirogon is back on the offensive, smashing its blade down on that lifter, buckling it visibly. CC manages to escape, and the two continue to clash fairly neutrally for the next minute or so.

CC goes in for an attack again, slipping under Apeirogon in another rush, but Apeirogon's able to bounce its spun up blade down onto the top of CC once more, throwing a couple small chunks of metal off as it hits the wall again. Apeirogon manages to bounce forwards as it hits the wall, spinning it off of CC to one side, allowing it to squeak under CC's flank, lifting it up and throwing sparks off of its underbelly once more as it rolls it over. CC, again, manages to self-right, but the motion comes with an audible snap, as the lifter hangs down in front of CC's wedge, limp. Seems those continued attacks have messed up the motor enough to bust it with that last exertion. A snappy blow from Apeirogon bounces it up on top again, as it slips under that front wedge again, a hefty blow tossing CC skyward once more, in a neat front flip only exaggerated by the floppy lifter, as it lands neatly on its back, propped up for a moment by the lifter, before flopping down inverted. Scuttling around a little, it's easy for Apeirogon to score a follow-up strike, rolling it once more, this time beached on that disabled weapon. Maxi can only watch as the countdown timer trickles down, but the buzzer catches them out - Cross Check barely survives to a JD.

Control: 3-2 Cross Check
Damage: 5-0 Apeirogon II
Aggression: 3-2 Cross Check

Your winner, and the ROBOT4 Lightweight Champion in a 9-6 decision, is Apeirogon II!
