LIGHTWEIGHTS

Dance the Night Away vs. No Exit

Well, I wish I could say this was more of a fight, but unfortunately we have to deal with total washouts... like this one. Dance tries, gosh dang it to heck, but he just cannot inflict much damage to No Exit thanks to his armour and awkward shape, whereas No Exit puts on a flipping clinic for most of the match, tossing and twirling the vertical disc robot like a high school cheerleader twirling a tampon in the locker room. Wait what? There is one particularly nasty hit from Dance, when No Exit wedges Dance at an angle where his left wheel comes into direct contact with the disc and gets shredded, but because the armour value is rather high it doesn't affect Josh much. No Exit performs another high octane flip and closes the match with Dance on the killsaws.

Aggression: 13-2 No Exit
Damage: 8-7 Dance the Night Away
Strategy: 11-4 No Exit

No Exit wins by a 31-14 judges' decision!

O'Malley vs. Microwave

Well this is interesting. O'Malley heads over to one area of the arena devoid of hazards, while Microwave seems bent on trying to attack the rear of O'Malley. The thing is, even with O'Malley's pretty poor wheel set-up Microwave is having a hard time doing this, and the first meeting we get is a weapon-to-weapon hit which sends O'Malley almost directly into a corner where he just misses getting beaten into by the hammer, while Microwave gets sent into mid-arena. There actually seems to be a fairly good amount of damage done to both weapons; a chunk is missing from O'Malley's top blade, while Microwave's bar has been somewhat warped. Goodness gracious! Okay, here we go, and both robots seem to be spinning up again, though looking pretty unstable. O'Malley seems to have an overwhelming amount of trouble turning now, and Microwave tries to attack the rear end. Unfortunately because the bar is a bit warped, it's causing him to do little sporadic jumps, which the crowd finds very amusing. Eventually they have to go weapon-to-weapon again and this time half of Microwave's weapon goes flying across the arena, while O'Malley's top tri-bar is incredibly warped. Without his weapon Microwave is relegated to pushbot status and he's not the best at that. Fortunately for him O'Malley's weapon is now compromised enough where Gabe has to run it at a lower speed to keep the robot stable. So the rest of the match is Microwave using its wedge to slowly push O'Malley around the arena, and occasionally into a hazard, while O'Malley's bottom tri-bar catches Microwave's wedges but barely does a thing due to spinning barely over half power.

Aggression: 11-4 Microwave
Damage: 9-6 O'Malley
Strategy: 8-7 Microwave

Microwave wins by a 25-20 judges' decision!

Translaytor 2 vs. Electric Angel

...seriously? The 3rd fight of the tournament and we have a DOUBLE FORFEIT?????

Sometimes I just hate you all so much. :v:

Translaytor 2 = heads
Electric Angel = tails

Heads
Tails
Tails

Electric Angel wins by a Coin Toss.

Captain Trips vs. VVV

Highlight time! Well the hammers don't exactly eat the clusters alive, but they do a fair amount of damage nonetheless as Captain Trips is able to successfully and consistently get underneath the three-part clusterbot and deliver them to hammers over the course of the match. He gets some trips (har har) himself, mind you, when 2 of the clusters manage to get underneath him and ram him into a corner, but he is able to escape somewhat easily and go back on the attack. Eventually one of the clusters gets knocked out by the hammer and the other two hold their own until the buzzer at the end. Good match.

Aggression: 8-7 VVV
Damage: 10-5 Captain Trips
Strategy: 8-7 Captain Trips

Captain Trips wins by a 25-20 judges' decision!

MIDDLEWEIGHTS

Blackfoot vs. Tesla's Revenge

Tesla's Revenge wins by a forfeit.

Pterodactyl vs. Harbinger

Pterodactyl wins by a forfeit.

Glass Cannon II vs. Remi

Remi box-rushes. Gee, how original. But it fits, because he's pretty much a box. Go figure. Anyway, Glass Cannon strafes to the side to DOOOOOODGE it and it ends badly for Remi as the entire front corner is caught and dented it so badly it jams armour into the drum. Said armour is destroyed and that stops the drum... leaving Remi without a working drum and at the side of the arena. Glass Cannon is beginning to spin back up again and Remi charges him down again with little else to do. The resulting hit is catastrophic as pieces of the drum go flying across the arena and Remi lands in the corner. Mercifully, the hammer does not come down but it seems that's because Remi is unable to move. Glass Cannon, still ambulatory, returns to its square!

Glass Cannon II wins by a knockout in 0:58.

Janus vs. Revolutions Per Minute

Oh for the love of fuck. Is this happening again? Yes this is actually happening again. We've got both pieces of Janus going to opposite ends of the arena, and waiting for RPM to come to one of them. RPM, of course, does not move at all. I could just kick you clowns in the face. :v: The ref starts to count RPM out, who hastily drives about to show he's moving. Okay, SOMETHING has to give. Eventually RPM finally takes the bait and moves towards one of the clusters. The cluster near the wall just waits for RPM to get near, then tries to absorb the first hit with the lifter. That... doesn't go over so well. RPM catches the corner of that cluster and that cluster's wedge just crumples up like tinfoil. It's also not moving. The other cluster hurriedly comes in with its flipper but RPM is already nearly back at full speed. Another devastating hit pretty much destroys the flipper cluster, and RPM hits it one more time to make sure, scattering Janus parts all over the arena.

Revolutions Per Minute wins by a knockout in 2:00.

HEAVYWEIGHTS

Give Way vs. Catastrophic Failure

So Bradley's plan is to get underneath the front corners of Catastrophic Failure and beach him on the wedge wall. Huh? Well, Give Way can strafe, but Catastrophic Failure still has the speed and control advantage, and when Give Way tries this, Josh makes him pay for it by getting in a massive hit with the vertical disc that sends Give Way flying end over end. Josh pours on the pressure and soon Give Way is bouncing all over the arena from repeated disc hits. Finally getting some breathing room he manages to smack Catastrophic Failure with the drum and the vertical disc bot goes flying, but manages to remain stable and land right side up, albeit without a side wedge now. Brad tries to follow up with another hit but instead meets vertical disc. Because of the nature of the weapons, and because they hit dead-on, Give Way barely does anything to Catastrophic Failure, while the latter sends the other flying across the arena. Fortunately for Give Way, he's tanking all the hits relatively well, but he hasn't shown as much aggression as he meant to. This kind of goes on until Give Way manages to hit the other wedge and tear it off. But in turn Catastrophic Failure manages to snag a wheel and nearly rip it right off. And then... the match ends.

Aggression: 9-6 Catastrophic Failure
Damage: 10-5 Give Way
Strategy: 9-6 Catastrophic Failure

Catastrophic Failure wins by a 23-22 split judges' decision!

Redemption Denied vs. Malacoda

Redemption Denied wins by a forfeit.

MC Hammer vs. Chino

Chino wins by a forfeit.

Station to Station vs. MiDAS

Okay, so here's the deal here. MiDAS' idea here is to act like a rambot that happens to be axing while ramming. Well, unfortunately this really doesn't pan out well for him because both clusters manage to get underneath him almost the entire match. Unfortunately for Station to Station, both of the clusters' limited torque and MiDAS' wheel placement means they aren't shoving MiDAS anywhere, no matter how much they get under him, as MiDAS simply squirts away. So we get an incredibly silly match where MiDAS monster trucks onto the clusters and then extricates himself before they can even get him halfway to a hazard. The times MiDAS 'happens to be axing' don't really do much either, as StS' armour means the axe isn't doing much. At the end both competitors look ready for more. More what? Childish nonsense? :v:

Aggression: 8-7 Station to Station
Damage: 8-7 MiDAS
Strategy: 8-7 Station to Station

Station to Station wins by a 23-22 split judges' decision!

SUPERHEAVYWEIGHTS

Greed vs. In The Red Square... Minion!

Christian Carlberg and the rest of Team Coolrobots applaud Gabe and Minion as they get ready to fight. Nick Schuch and Brian Roe start passing out C2 memorabilia. Jeez, guys, save it for later.

Okay, RFT. Greed is looking to sweep around Minion's sides, and you know what? That's exactly what he does. Fwing. Clamp. Minion is pinned. With his excellent torque Greed hauls Minion's ass off to the hammers, which beat a pretty resounding beat into the bot with the drum. Or disc. Or... drisc? What the hell do you call that thing anyway? Well right now I'd call it harmless, because it's not doing any damage. Eventually Greed has to let him go and Minion moves out looking rather hosed. He opts for an even more aggressive approach, and... well, it still doesn't work. Greed is able to swing around and get to the side. Clamp. Well shit, looks like Minion's going for a ride again. Back to the hammer. Pow! Pow! Pow! So far this has been all Greed, and pulverizer. Minion? Hey, Minion? Where's the movement in your wheels? Greed has to let go again, and it seems Minion is truly dead this time. Those who remember the fight against No Apologies shudder and shake their heads. Minion gets counted out.

Greed wins by a knockout in 1:25.

Ganymede vs. Tali'Zorah

Tali'Zorah wins by a forfeit.

Brain Power vs. Phantasmic Slammer

CORNERS!!!

Screams Martijn as he barrels towards them. Unfortunately Phantasmic Slammer has all the necessary drivetrain to defeat Marti's tactic, and Brain Power ends up being gotten under a good portion of the match and tossed about. Brain Power does eventually gets under a few times himself, and even gets a nice flip, but once Phantasmic Slammer rights himself, it all goes downhill from there. In due time Slammer is able to get the specific toss he needs to put Brain Power on his side, and from there he is unable to right himself. That would be game, set, and match.

Phantasmic Slammer wins by a knockout in 2:06.

Angry Goat II vs. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Angry Goat II wins by a forfeit.

ROUND 2

LIGHTWEIGHTS

No Exit vs. Captain Trips

Here we go! No Exit goes for a no-nonsense approach and bulldozes towards Captain Trips. The trippy one figures a full-on approach, however, isn't the most productive tactic and tries to angle around the arm. Hey... well, this is rather interesting. No Exit's flipper managed to get under Captain Trips' lifter, but Trips' wedgelets managed to get under No Exit's front corner. What's more, they have the same torque, so no one's going anywhere. So what does No Exit do? He flips that son of a bitch! Or he would have if Trips wasn't underneath his front corner. What happens is that both robots get sent onto their backs. Well that's no fun. No Exit self-rights immediately, while Captain Trips takes some time with its lifter. Eventually it manages to get back on its wheels, but No Exit is already back in the fray. Flip. Trips is inverted again. No Exit goes to push him underneath the hammer, and does so. Well this is unpleasant. Trips is trying to self-right but he cannot move the lifter fast enough before the pulverizer smacks him back down. And... well, since Trips can't run inverted, that's the way it goes. Captain Trips does not escape from the hammer in time to not be counted out, so counted out, he is.

No Exit wins by a knockout in 1:01.

Electric Angel vs. Microwave

Ugh. Well, Spatula tried putting up a good fight against his own bot, but... unfortunately this was a poor mismatch. The lack of wedge on Electric Angel hurts it incredibly here as, while it takes the blows from Microwave's weapon decently, every time it rides up onto the wedges of Microwave, it cannot do a thing, and Microwave slowly shoves it onto a hazard. There was a brief scare for Martijn when Electric Angel rammed against Microwave's blade so hard Microwave nearly went into the drum and got flipped, but it landed just out of range. Microwave owns the fight from there on out, though not doing as much damage as it would have liked.

Aggression: 10-5 Electric Angel
Damage: 14-1 Microwave
Strategy: 10-5 Microwave

Microwave wins by a 29-16 judges' decision.

MIDDLEWEIGHTS

Glass Cannon vs. Tesla's Revenge

Really, this match consisted of one effective hit. And that hit, after taking several knocks from that shell, was Tesla's lift-and-slam on Glass Cannon halfway through the match after it stopped the shell. Glass Cannon was immediately inverted, and Tesla went the whole hog and positioned Glass Cannon in a way that it could not knock itself over from. Therefore it was counted out.

Tesla's Revenge wins by a knockout in 1:46.

Pterodactyl vs. Revolutions Per Minute

Okay, RFT. Pterodactyl, knowing the kind of wicked power RPM possesses, keeps that damned wedge facing the whirling monster. RPM is looking for a way around it as he spins up and heads into the center of the arena. Pterodactyl gets the better of the collision and RPM eats center of the plow, causing a little damage but nothing more notable than sparks for the moment, and he goes bouncing away, losing only a little momentum. Pterodactyl is the same, barely phased by the glancing blow, and continues advancing. RPM tries again, trying to sneak around the plow. Consider that mission failed. Pterodactyl aims the hit directly in the center of the plow again and RPM goes ricocheting away again like a hockey puck, barely able to stop himself before hitting the wall. Whew. So far, we've not had much progress in this match. RPM high-tails it from the wall and Pterodactyl closes in, but in his haste Pterodactyl overshoots it a little and RPM swings around to take a corner hit off of Pterodactyl. His shoddy control, however, lets him down and he goes wide of Pterodactyl entirely, allowing Ptero to get the wedge pointed at him again. Now in an advantageous position, Ptero shoves into RPM again, taking another glancing blow and pinballing RPM forward slightly... and another one. Now there is a visible dent on Ptero's plow, but again nothing major. RPM isn't having the best of luck here, but at least he is keeping Pterodactyl from getting a straight shot to the hammers. And this is how it goes for the next minute, with Pterodactyl's plow getting roughed up bit by bit while Pterodactyl just goes bouncing everywhere. Then there is a particularly nasty shove and a whole section of Pterodactyl's plow gets completely shredded away, but it sends RPM into the wall, stopping the ring! Pterodactyl quickly recovers, uses the front end this time, and tries to get to RPM before he can get away and spin the ring up... and he does. Flip! RPM is tossed like a coin. And right back onto Ptero's front end. Flip! Right into the hammers! But RPM only takes one solid hit before getting away. He spins up enough to knock Ptero aside a bit when the latter tries to prevent him from doing so, and now is back at full speed in earnest. Ptero turns and uses the remaining half of the plow to absorb another massive hit, and now loses the plow completely. And then... it's over.

Aggression: 14-1 Pterodactyl
Damage: 14-1 Revolutions Per Minute
Strategy: 8-7 Pterodactyl

Pterodactyl wins by a 23-22 split judges' decision!

HEAVYWEIGHTS

Station to Station vs. Chino

Well, the clusters would probably have been tossed around less than Chino due to their 4WD to Chino's 2WD... but they're also half the size. :v: Meaning Chino has a fucking holiday with these little assholes. While Chino isn't able to really pick and choose shots as he'd like, he keeps putting the clusters across the arena, getting spun around enough to deal with the other flanking one and sending that flying too. The torque problem StS has also rears its head as they can't seem to really get good enough leverage on Chino to push it when they have stopped the blade, and Chino escapes. So basically it's a StS pinball game for the entire match. Chino's score? You decide.

Aggression: 9-6 Station to Station
Damage: 11-4 Chino
Strategy: 8-7 Station to Station

Chino wins by a 24-21 judges' decision.

Redemption Denied vs. Catastrophic Failure

Yeah, you know what I said earlier about Electric Angel vs. Microwave being a complete mismatch? Well fuck that, this completely blows that out of the water. Catastrophic Failure is unable to really get any effective hit on Redemption Denied's really low frame and as it is, the hits he does get just glance off the flipper, while most of the match he goes sailing into the air. Sometimes RD gets CF to a hammer or killsaw of some sort. Maybe they're made out of cheese. Mmm, cheese... welp I guess the writing of this match is also a catastrophic failure. Speaking of which, Redemption Denied sends the vertical disced bot flying once more to close out the one-sided affair.

Aggression: 13-2 Redemption Denied
Damage: 10-5 Redemption Denied
Strategy: 14-1 Redemption Denied

Redemption Denied wins by a 37-8 judges' decision.

SUPERHEAVYWEIGHTS

Greed vs. Angry Goat II

Sorry Reflector Shield, but - wait, he's not Reflector Shield for this fight? Phooey. Well, sorry Josh, but you got clobbered here. Greed is able to completely dodge Goat's front end, get to his sides multiple times, and shove him into nasty places like the hammers and killsaws. Both of these assholes have ridiculous armour values so hazard damage is not much of a factor, but it still scores points, and Greed does just that. There is one time in the match where Greed accidentally rolls up onto the front of Goat and gets shoved towards a saw, but he rolls off of it and Goat manages to throw himself onto the hazard instead. And that's unfortunately the way Goat's luck goes from then.

Aggression: 9-6 Greed
Damage: 10-5 Greed
Strategy: 13-2 Greed

Greed wins by a 32-13 judges' decision.

Tali'Zorah vs. Phantasmic Slammer

Hey guys, remember when we picked on Square Wave for being a Breaker Box clone? Hey, remember when we didn't do that for Tali'Zorah and her wedge set-up? :v:

*is promptly slaughtered by Josh*

Okay okay, the fight. Well, half it was Tali'Zorah, consistently getting underneath and outdoing Slammer's "Killsaw Chicken" tactic, sending him to hazards and such. Then mid-way through the fight, Slammer manages to capitalize on his tactic and flip Tali'Zorah, rendering the wedge useless. Well shit. Tali'Zorah has back-up wedges but they are nowhere near as good and so Slammer dominates the latter part of the match, tossing and flipping Tali'Zorah. The times the hinged wedge gets knocked right-side-up are momentary because Slammer is there to flip Tali again and again, and Tali ends the fight pinned against the wedge wall.

Aggression: 8-7 Phantasmic Slammer
Damage: 8-7 Phantasmic Slammer
Strategy: 8-7 Tali'Zorah

Phantasmic Slammer wins by a 23-22 split judges' decision!

FINALS

LIGHTWEIGHT FINAL

No Exit vs. Microwave

Lightweight finals are go! And here comes No Exit with that ramp, looking to get in on that hot Microwavin' action! Somehow I think there was a metaphor in there, but I must have missed it. Anyhoo, Microwave tries to get around the ramp but has little luck, and the hit glances off the surface of the ramp, doing very little and sending Microwave dribbling about a little. No Exit moves in, takes another glancing blow and gets under! He flips! ...Microwave lands on its back! Oh no! But wait, he's gonna self right! ...and he does! And you know what? No Exit is right there to flip him again! Microwave is again on its back! It tries to self-right again, but is not having as much luck as it was last time! It bounces around, flailing about, while No Exit keeps tabs on it, and just as it starts to get counted out, Microwave makes nice vault onto its wheels again.

And is promptly flipped by No Exit again.

No Exit takes control of Microwave before it can get control of the bar again, and takes it to the hammer. It gets one shot in before knocking Microwave out of trouble, giving Microwave's underside a nasty looking dent, and Microwave finally self-rights out of range of No Exit's flipper. It runs away to spin up! No Exit pursues! But hey, he gets hit directly on the corner this time, and there is a large dent in the corner, spinning No Exit around, but also sending Microwave flying away! No Exit comes back in, but Microwave gets another corner shot in, actually doing good damage now and warping the ramp very slightly, as well as putting another dent in it! But wait! No Exit has gotten back underneath Microwave! FLIP! Microwave's on its back again! It tries to self-right, and fails and then...

The match ends.

Aggression: 12-3 No Exit
Damage: 11-4 Microwave
Strategy: 8-7 No Exit

No Exit wins by a 24-21 judges' decision, and leaves the box as your LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!

MIDDLEWEIGHT FINAL

Tesla's Revenge vs. Pterodactyl

Off we go with the Middleweight finals!! AND... they angle in. Why am I not surprised. Well, to be fair, Martijn is doing a bit more than anging in and is gunning for the front corners of Pterodactyl... he gets them! AND THE SAW COMES DOWN... on Pterodactyl's body armour. Shit. Well, it still does a bit of damage, but sicne the weapon and Pterodactyl's body armour are equal, well... yeah. Okay eventually Tesla has to let go of Pterodactyl, and Pterodactyl has a small slice in it for its trouble. What does Ptero think about the situation? This! FLIP! Tesla is inverted! Oh no! Tesla isn't invertible with the saw set-up! That's fine, he'll self-right! Where does he self-right though? Right back onto Ptero's flipper! FLIP! Holy de-ja-vu, Batman! Tesla is flipped again! Ptero waits patiently, as Tesla self-rights again... you guessed it. FLIP! But this time, Tesla lands right-side-up! It immediately gets under the side of Ptero, and BRINGS THE SAW DOWN... on more body armour. Shit, can't get the tracks, can you? You know what, though? Tesla thinks it'd be a good idea to reverse, and he cuts across the tracks!! Well, the tracks still have as much armour as the saw does have weapon power... but it's still a saw, and it can cut shit! The track jams! Ptero suddenly finds itself only able to move in an arc! Tesla has new life and it aggressively fights for Ptero's other side now, but Ptero is doing a good job fending Tesla off! Ptero eventually fools Tesla into charging a bit early, and Tesla is flipped AGAIN! AGAIN, I TELL YOU! But Ptero can't stop Tesla from self-righting, and eventually the blue machine is back on its wheels! It fights again, and manages to get to Ptero's side at last!

And too late, because the match is over.

Aggression: 9-6 Pterodactyl
Damage: 13-2 Tesla's Revenge
Strategy: 10-5 Tesla's Revenge

Tesla's Revenge wins by a 29-16 judges' decision! He stands tall as the MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!

HEAVYWEIGHT FINAL

Chino vs. Redemption Denied

More flipper vs. spinner goodness in the heavyweight finals! Or badness, if you were expecting something else! :P We've already got Redemption Denied flying out of his square and making contact with Chino before the spinner even knows what the fuck is going on! Or that's what I'd assume if Gabe was smoking a joint during the match. :v: Anyhoo, Chino actually does manage to move out of his square, but Redemption Denied crashes into him and his flipper plate takes a minor chiselling from the bar. Due to the bar's height, it goes right over RD's wheelpods and this gives RD free reign - POP. Chino goes soaring overtop of Redemption Denied and lands smack-dab on its back, behind RD. No problem, Chino can run either way up. It's not scoring points getting flipped around though, so it tries again. Redemption Denied is having a bit of trouble turning that wide wedge around, so Chino gets a free shot at the sides. One of the wheelpods is torn right open and exposing the right tire, but the drivetrain still seems to be working fine. If anything, it's pissed Redemption Denied off to the point where he just slams into Chino and starts a series of chain flips that send Chino spinning through the air like a tiddly-wink. After about half a minute of this torture Chino finally gets some breathing room and spins up again. Redemption Denied comes in warily this time. Chino sneaks off to one side and Redemption Denied just plows in - aha! Chino aimed directly at the exposed wheel! He takes a ride on the flipper plate again, but falls off early and manages to strike the wheel! It is torn off instantly!! Well shit, this is not good for the flipping plate of doom... and as luck would have it, Chino begins to lay into Redemption Denied's armour voraciously, ripping out the side angled wedge and eventually gutting into the internals...

Chino wins by a knockout at 2:34, and with that brutal performance has claimed the title of HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!

SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT FINAL

Greed vs. Phantasmic Slammer

The big bads get ready to square off. Actually no, Phantasmic Slammer heads off... *groan* towards the saws. Hoo boy, here we go. The crowd is already booing Brad. But wait... Greed is already flying around the saws, and Slammer actually gets under... nope. Greed drives off immediately. Greed turns about and finds that they're facing each other. Greed immediately gets under Slammer before it can get back behind the saws, throws the torque reaction clamp down, and starts to drag his sorry ass to the hammers. Slammer tries to throw off his grip by firing the flipper, but the fork is locked down already so it ain't budging. Slammer gets treated to bed and breakfast courtesy of the pulverizers, which flatten him into more of a pancake than he already he is. I wonder if Greed likes pancakes. Maybe waffles. Belgian waffles. Mmmmm... okay, back to the fight. Greed lets go of Slammer, okay, now Slammer's pissed. He gets a flip on Greed, who goes tumbling onto his... back. Or whatever. Slammer immediately gets another flip that throws Greed nearly terminal, and he lands back on top of slammer, wheelpod-first. Toss. Greed goes spinning through the air to the delight of the crowd. Slammer then flips him against the wall, but Greed goes bouncing off the wall and escapes, still inverted. He manages to re-invert himself using the patended Overkill method of riding the walls, and then turns to face an incoming Slammer. Who he gets under. Clamp. Hoo boy, this again. More hammer action. Slammer is getting beaten into hash, but his armour value means he is surviving it.

But he stays there as the match culminates.

Aggression: 9-6 Greed
Damage: 11-4 Greed
Strategy: 9-6 Greed

Greed wins by a 29-16 judges' decision, and is able to throw his weight around as the SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!
