QUARTER-FINALS

LW

Anti-Virus vs. Conqueror

A real back and forth fight, with Anti-Virus getting under Conqueror more often than not. Anti-Virus finds it difficult to do anything with these opportunities, however, with Conqueror wiggling his flipper and mashing the controller, he falls off almost every time. Anti-Virus manages some wall slams, but not much else. Conqueror, on the other hand, has repeatedly taken advantage of the few times he managed to get under. One time, it was a flip, another time, he got AV into the drum. A third time, AV got flipped by the killsaws. While these opportunities were few and far between, it is likely that they had a lot of influence on the judges.

Aggression: 9-6 Anti-Virus
Damage: 10-5 Conqueror
Strategy: 9-6 Conqueror

Conqueror wins by a 25-20 judges' decision.

Anti-Body vs. Zadkiel

Had the weapon-to-armour disparity been greater here, maybe Zadkiel would have had a chance. As it is, he manages to get a good many edge hits but really cannot cause too much damage to Anti-Body, and Anti-Body is able to systematically bully the evil archangel around the arena. Nonetheless, Anti-Body's wedge teeth look a little buckled at the end of the match, and one of his tires is slashed. However, Zadkiel looks quite concave from all the previous pulverizer hits.

Aggression: 9-6 Anti-Body
Damage: 8-7 Anti-Body
Strategy: 8-7 Anti-Body

Anti-Body wins by a 25-20 judges' decision.

MW

Harbinger vs. Latvian Gambit

Latvian Gambit and Harbinger meet in the center of the arena. Latvian, of course, wins the battle of who gets under who. Harbinger backs the fuck up and tries again, but he cannot get control of the situation. Eventually Latvian harasses him towards the wall, and Harbinger gets caught. He gets lifted and flipped over. Well, that's not good. From here Harbinger is really unable to get any sort of momentum and the quarter-final matchup proves to be a bust for him. He manages to get a few thwacks but couldn't follow up on any of them, and Latvian pounds him with hazard and wall slams. At the end Josh slams his transmitter down in frustration, while Martijn asks for a shirley temple. The non-alcoholic kind, mind you. Because he's a fucking teetotal.

Aggression: 10-5 Latvian Gambit
Damage: 9-6 Latvian Gambit
Strategy: 12-3 Latvian Gambit

Latvian Gambit wins by a 31-14 judges' decision.

Pterodactyl vs. Toe Chipper

Toe Chipper has his two small teeth that are meant to get under wedges like Pterodactyl. The problem is, Ptero is angling in on him, big time. TC tries to get him head-on, but can't do it. Ptero gets under, deflects most of the blow, and basically re-enacts the entire fight that Toe Chipper had with Merry Hampton. Toe Chipper however manages to get a few licks in, though, and JUST manages to get past the wedge and give those tracks a good ol' wallop. With just one hit, Pterodactyl is instantly KO'd, but... the clock read 2:59. So although Ptero is 15 feet removed from his tracks, to a decision we go.

Aggression: 12-3 Pterodactyl
Damage: 9-6 Toe Chipper
Strategy: 8-7 Pterodactyl

Pterodactyl wins by a 26-19 judges' decision.

Snijmachine vs. Terminal Velocity

Wow, the OOTA zone exists? Thanks to GF's helpful tip, I never would have found that out. It's not like he's able to even get there, though. The first hit from Snijmachine's disc carves a huge-ass gash in the flipper of TV. We get more hits and that flipper is trashed from just flat-surface damage, but TV is still working properly. Snijmachine actually gets flipped! And you know what? It doesn't make two fucks of a difference. Snijmachine turns and inflicts more damage before TV can even come in again. TV continues to try and move around the disc but cannot gain control of the situation and around the halfway point he finally starts showing signs of fatigue. Snijmachine really begins laying into him here and, because dear old Mac is an arsehole (but he's our arsehole, so leave him alone), deconstructs TV into a series of increasingly smaller parts until TV stops moving and is counted out. A rebuild is moot at this point.

Snijmachine wins by a FATALITY at 2:12.

Klarinette vs. Stormbringer

Actually, Stormbringer CAN damage you, Lian. Just not enough. Stormbringer aims for those edges but since he's a vertical spinner, and not a horizontal one, he can't really catch properly. Klarinette is largely unphased and bulldozes Stormbringer into arena hazards such as the killsaws, hammers, and hell, even the drum. However, everything changes around the 2 minute mark. A severely damaged Stormbringer finally gets the hit he'd been waiting for and knocks Klarinette onto her back. Yes, her back. What, you guys never heard of a fembot before? Sheesh. Klarinette hurriedly tries to get the lifter back down but Stormbringer manages to attack one of the tracks. That jars the track and, while not quite breaking it, locks it up somewhat. This impairs Klarinette's driving and makes it slightly easier for Stormbringer to get around. It's still not too easy, as Klarinette finally gets the lifter down and continues to fend Stormbringer off. Klarinette does suffer another hit and is flipped over, but the match ends before Strombringer can do much else.

Aggression: 9-6 Klarinette
Damage: 9-6 Stormbringer
Strategy: 8-7 Klarinette

Klarinette wins by a 23-22 split judges' decision.

In The Red Square Minion vs Master of Savagery

MoS rushes out to get underneath, but accidentally tries to grab with the claws too early. One gets struck by the drum and bent. The claw is now jammed such that it can't retract, and now MoS has the perfect target for the drum. Kody tries to approach carefully, favoring the other side, but Minion is just maneuverable enough and able to really put the hurt on it. Eventually the claw gets ripped off entirely. At one point when driving around, MoS accidentally turns too far and exposes his side, letting Minion get a great hit that flips MoS over. MoS is quick to self-right but he's finding it hard to really get back into the game. Right as the match starts to close out, Minion hits MoS and he gets high centered on the wedge wall. There's not really enough time for MoS to get counted out so Minion gets in another quick hit.

Aggression: 8-7 Master of Savagery
Damage: 13-2 Minion
Strategy: 10-5 Minion

Minion wins by a 30-15 judges' decision.

Black Mamba vs. G.R.O.S.S.

Alex V goes with the scoop and tries to 'block' the initial impact. Unfortunately, he doesn't. He really doesn't. The bar manages to cut into 8-armoured surface beside the scoop and warp it significantly, laying several gashes into it. G.R.O.S.S. is thrown back but so is Mamba, though albeit not as far, and he can't get back in before G.R.O.S.S. is spinning up again. This time the scoop gets hit, unprotected from that wounded side now, and is just flayed; it completely gets buckled, and the scoop is no longer flush with the ground. Both bots go flying again, but G.R.O.S.S. hits the wall. This time Black Mamba is able to come back in and pin him. He tries to get G.R.O.S.S. to the hammer, but doggone it that slippery G.R.O.S.S., man! His body shape makes it extremely difficult to push around. Realizing this, Mamba tries to lift him up and suspend him in the air. He immediately loses G.R.O.S.S, who drives away and spins up. Uh oh. Mamba has now lost his only advantage and bravely tries to rush G.R.O.S.S. again and again only to take severe damage each time. One last hit around the halfway mark spins him into the drum, which tips him up but doesn't really do anything. But Mamba isn't moving. He looks more like a lump of charcoal than a robot, now. The refs count him out.

G.R.O.S.S. wins by a knockout at 1:58.
