League of Robotic Excellence: Season 1: Results
WEEK 1

LW

Mr. Not Very Nice LW vs Cheetah

Cheetah tries to box rush, but Mr. NVN gets out of the way in time and spins up to full speed. Undaunted, Cheetah comes in for another slam, but doesn't line up properlny and Mr. NVN gets a hit on the side. Cheetah comes back again and this time manages to get a good slam into the wall, stopping the thwackbot's spin and allowing Cheetah to get another slam in, this time straight into the hammers. Cheetah takes a rather big shot from the hammer itself, but Mr. NVN takes two and now has some visible damage. Cheetah, now moving slower than before, attempts to scoop up Mr. NVN again, but the thwackbot has the advantage now and hits Cheetah hard in the side, knocking it away and dealing some damage to the wheel. Cheetah is looking very much worse for wear now and is listing to the right a little, which gives Mr. NVN a nice shot at Cheetah's back. The fight ends shortly after.

Aggression: 10-5 Cheetah
Damage: 12-3 Mr. Not Very Nice LW
Strategy: 8-7 Mr. Not Very Nice LW

Mr. Not Very Nice LW wins a 25-20 judge's decision.

Zombie Killer vs Dr. Pepperdine

Both robots charge aggressively towards each other. ZK gets under and Pepperdine starts hammering away, getting a few small blows, but leaving a nice-sized dent. ZK goes for the hammers, and Pepperdine takes the brunt of the blows. After the 30 seconds are up, you can see Pepperdine with some big damage to the turret. Still pounding away, Pepperdine has managed to damage ZK's left-side drive enough so that ZK has a really tough time driving straight. This means it takes two more hammer blows from the pulverizer before driving away. The top of ZK is really fucked up at this point and Pepperdine is able to outmaneuver ZK and finish off the left side drive system. Since Zombie Killer can't show forward movement, it is counted out.

Dr. Pepperdine wins by KO in 1:35.

Annoying Box Rush vs. Recovered

Well think of this as your standard bull-matador fight. Annoying Box Rush charges, Recovered tries to get to the sides. Thanks to Recovered's higher control, he manages to outmanoeuvre ABR quite a bit, but only a few times gets ABR to a hazard, since ABR was able to slip away. On the times ABR got under Recovered, however, he was unable to do much because Recovered didn't just slip away most of the time, he slipped away EVERY time. So that's pretty much how it went.

Aggression: 8-7 Annoying Box Rush
Damage: 9-6 Recovered
Strategy: 8-7 Recovered

Recovered wins a 24-21 judges decision over Annoying Box Rush.

Week 2

LW

The Servant's Assistant 3 vs Conqueror

Conqueror tries to come out flanking, but TSA manages to get underneath and clamp Conqueror, not even letting him keep a tire on the ground. Instantly, TSA brings Conks to the killsaws, and both sparks and bits of tire fly. Servant's Assistant keeps Conqueror on there for the full 30 seconds, and you can tell that that left-side tire on Conqueror is pretty messed up, as it struggles to drive in a straight line. TSA takes this advantage to clamp Conqueror again and bring him to the pulverizer. Conqueror manages to withstand the beating rather well, but after being let go again is stuck under the hammer for quite some time. As it's counted out, it finally is able to show forward movement, and TSA rushes in for another clamp, this time taking the brutalized flipper over to the killsaws once again for another 30 seconds of sparks and rubber bits. When Conks is let go again, it stops moving, and is eventually counted out.

The Servant's Assistant 3 wins by knockout at 2:47.

Cheetah vs Kite

You know what they say, (audience braces itself for terrible pun) Cheetahs never win. (Audience simultaneously lets out a groan)

Kite wins by FF

Dr. Pepperdine vs Recovered

You know, Lian was supposed to write this match. Since Cheetah FFed, this means Alex doesn't have to write any LW fights. You're welcome.

Anyway, Pepperdine comes in on the offensive, but Recovered is too fast and manages to drive circles around Pepperdine early. Eventually Recovered gets under Pepperdine, and before Pepperdine is able to hit Recovered Marti whirls the thwackbot around, denting the side of Pepperdine slightly. Pepperdine is able to get a glancing blow before Recovered drives away, then turns sharply and comes in on the other corner. Before Alex can respond, Recovered is able to get Pepperdine into the killsaws, which leave sparks flying, as well as Recovered, whose wedge catches the saws and flying across the arena. Pepperdine is unable to take advantage of this small window of opportunity and is shoved into the drum by Recovered, getting a nice shot on the wheels, but unable to deal much damage. Pepperdine is knocked into the air and onto its back, and before it can self-right it's shoved into the pulverizer. After about 20 seconds of pounding, Pepperdine is back on its wheels and looking considerably worse for wear. However, time runs out soon after, with Recovered able to get another small thwack-hit before the fight ends.

Aggression: 10-5 Recovered
Damage: 12-3 Recovered
Strategy: 10-5 Recovered

Recovered wins a 32-13 judge's decision.

Turgor vs. Spin Cycle

Lightweights

Turgor vs. Crystal

Turgor screams out of his spot like a Spaniard during a Running Of The Bulls event, but Crystal is able to dodge him. Turgor hits the wall behind, but manages to turn quickly enough to ward off the flipper of Crystal. However, Crystal actually gets under the wedge of Turgor! FLIP! Crystal sends Turgor flying! You know, I nearly typo'd that as Turok. I loved that game. Anyway, Turgor is flung into a 360. Which unfortunately means he's got the wedge pointed right back at Crystal. Wedge. Turgor gets right under Crystal and delivers the flipperbot to the hammers. The flipper itself takes most of the blows, but an unfortunate hit on the right side crumples Crystal's armour. After that, Crystal escapes, but isn't as lucky from then on, and though he gets another gigantic flip, Turgor eventually catches him and slams him into the wall with a running shove across the arena. Crystal's right side drive isn't working, and with half the drivetrain gone, Rob Collins taps out.

Turgor wins by TKO at 2:03.

----

Recovered vs. Conqueror

Both robots bid to be more aggressive so they fly out towards each other at the start. Conqueror attempts to slide under Recovered's wedge, while Recovered makes a bid for the sides. Conqueror does succeed, but Recovered slides off the wedge and does gain purchase on the sides. He immediately proceeds to drive him to the nearest hazard, which happens to be the saws. They dig into Conqueror's wedge, and fling him across the arena. Conqueror gathers himself and plows straight into Recovered, who was attempting to get to the sides once more. Conqueror fires the flipper and though he doesn't get a solid flip, the momentum that Recovered slides off of the wedge inverts Recovered. Conqueror then picks up Recovered and quickly drops him on the saws, realizing that it would be difficult for him to get Recovered to the arena hammers before Recovered fell off the wedge. The saws dig into Recovered causing some neat sparks. Conqueror then tries to get underneath again, but fails as Recovered thwacks him away. Recovered slides underneath Conqueror's sides, and gets in a wall slam. And finally, Conqueror slides underneath the wedge again, and drops Recovered underneath the nearby arena hammers where Recovered gets hit twice before the buzzer sounds.

Aggression: 8-7 Recovered
Damage: 9-6 Conqueror
Strategy: 8-7 Recovered

Conqueror wins a 23-22 judges' decision

Spin Cycle 2 vs SNK

The initial contact see's Spin Cycle 2 explode once again, will this thing even last more than 50 seconds? I doubt it

SNK wins via KO at 0:27

The Servant's Assistant 3 vs. Mr. Not Very Nice LW

Mr. NVN spins out of the square and starts translating towards TSA3. He starts with Principia Mathematica Book 1 and finishes Book 3. He translates them right into TSA3's wedge, who takes the book right on the nose. The thwack flies up the wedge and Mr. NVN spirals to the side, while TSA moves in to clamp the main body. He only clamps the thwack arm though, and the two deadlock with even torque. TSA eventually lets go and tries to move under the main body but Mr. NVN squirrels away. Mr. NVN spins up and moves to the side, getting a nice ding on TSA's side before he can square the wedges. He gets in another thwack while TSA moves away. With time ticking down TSA aggressively rams into Mr. NVN and gets under the main body, quickly clamping him. He starts trapping him in the hazards, chewing the wheels up with the saws and creating a lightshow of sparks when they run across the main body. He then pins Mr. NVN in the corner where the hammer comes into play. TSA is eventually forced to release Mr. NVN, but there isn't a lot of time left. In the remaining seconds, TSA slams into Mr. NVN one more time.

Aggression: 8-7 Mr. Not Very Nice LW
Damage: 10-5 The Servant's Assistant 3
Strategy: 8-7 The Servant's Assitant 3

The Servant's Assistant 3 wins a 25-20 jduges' decision.

Crystal vs. Cheetah

Cheetah comes flying out of the gate right into Crystal, where Crystal immediately gets underneath the rambot. A quick flip puts Cheetah right on his back. Now inverted, Cheetah can't really get underneath Crystal. Crystal is quick to come back in and flip Cheetah, though. He uses his speed to flip Cheetah all over the damn place. Finally right side up, Cheetah swerves around Crystal's front and slides underneath. A long box slam sends Crystal flying when they crash into the arena wall, actually flipping Crystal in the process. After self-righting, Crystal is quick to keep his front facing Cheetah, sliding underneath and getting in another series of flips. Crystal tosses Cheetah in the air right as the buzzer sounds.

Aggression: 9-6 Cheetah
Damage: 9-6 Crystal
Strategy: 13-2 Crystal

Crystal wins a 28-17 judges' decision.

Zombie Killer vs. Recovered

Zombie Killer comes out warily, while Recovered crashes into him. Josh was busy looking for the thwack that wasn't to come, and the momentum allowed Recovered to slide under the wedge. Now in control, Recovered wastes no time simply ramming Zombie Killer into the spike strips. ZK bounces off the wall, and Recovered immediately gets under ZK's back. This time they're headed for the hazards where the pulverizers come down for a couple dingers. ZK is finally able to get away, but Recovered is right behind him. ZK stays careful, and while Recovered attempts to get around the sides, ZK succeeds in getting under Recovered. Recovered has one wheel on the ground so he tries to get off the wedge, but ZK gets in a quick wall slam before he's able to do so. ZK comes in again and gets underneath Recovered again, but Recovered gains the upperhand by spinning off ZK's wedge and thwacking him in the process. ZK is persistant but he has problems gaining complete control of Recovered. Once, ZK gets underneath Recovered's wedge; the equal torque causes a deadlock though, since Recovered's wheels are still on the ground. Recovered gets out of the situation by rapidly backing up and spinning, getting another thwack in. Zombie Killer proceeds to get under Recovered's side and slams him in to the wall one last time.

Aggression: 10-5 Recovered
Damage: 8-7 Recovered
Strategy: 9-6 Zombie Killer

Recovered wins a 25-20 judges' decision.

Jesus Built My Hotrod vs. Turgor

5 point speed/traction disparity? We're living the good ol' days of Carnage, aren't we. That doesn't stop Turgor from catching JBMH right off the bat and slamming it hard into the wall. Throughout the match JBMH drives around like he's having a midlife crisis or something. For his part he does manage more control than the very unwieldy Turgor, but that doesn't stop him from accidentally driving into a wall or killsaw every now and then. Turgor does this as well, but a lot of the time misses the killsaw before it actually pops up to catch him. One accidental wall slam however allows JBMH to slam into him side-on. Turgor's armour takes the slam like a champ, and soon after Turgor capitalizes on his opponent being right next to him, gets under and deposits him under the hammer. It doesn't do much to the well-armoured Jesus, but it does score points for Turgor. We approach the end of the match with bots robots comically crashing into the spike strips at the same time.

Aggression: 9-6 Turgor
Damage: 8-7 Jesus Built My Hotrod
Strategy: 8-7 Jesus Built My Hotrod

Turgor wins a 23-22 split judges' decision over Jesus Built My Hotrod.

Week 6

Lightweights

Mr. Not Very Nice LW vs. Zombie Killer

Okay, so the thwack starts thwacking and the killers of zombies starts ramming. Not Very Nice's translational capabilities help him out a bit, but this one was all about Zombie Killer shoving playzooki's LW all around the shop. It gets a little more difficult for Josh as the wedge gets dinged up by the thwack, but Not Very Nice is looking more beaten up by the end.

Aggression: 13-2 Zombie Killer
Damage: 8-7 Mr. Not Very Nice LW
Strategy: 8-7 Zombie Killer

Zombie Killer wins a 28-17 judges' decision over Mr. Not Very Nice LW.

Conqueror vs SNK

Conqueror comes out for the charge while SNK comes out backwards with that disc spinning up, needless to say, Alex V is pretty baffled by this as he wasn't expecting that, but decides to attack anyway. Both bots charge forward and SNK's plan for the most part works as he spins around and catches Conqueror on the sides. There is a nice cut into the side of Conqueror from that impact, but this has left Conqueror with a free shot at SNK's sides. Conqueror takes full advantage by ramming and then flipping SNK, sending the spinner tumbling forwards towards the the drum. Conqueror then goes for the charge but SNK dodges at the last second, getting a hit on the already damaged side of Conqueror. SNK then follows up before Conqueror can turn around back smacking from behind, which cuts the back and sends Conqueror spinning as he then only just barely gets caught by the arena drum and gets flipped. SNK seizes it's chance by hitting into the already damaged side as Conqueror tries to self right. He fails on the first attempt, but succeeds on the second. Conqueror then manages to get around the back of SNK and flips him over, but SNK drives up the front of Conqueror and smacks the flipper hard before it retracted, causing a decent amount of damage. The rest of the match sees SNK get a few nicks here and there and Conqueror get a flip and a few rams in before the end.

Aggression: 10-5 Conqueror
Damage: 13-2 SNK
Strategy: 8-7 Conqueror

SNK wins via a 25-20 decision.

Recovered vs. Cheetah

Well the other writers have given up on Inky's Week 1 RPs, but I won't! Yes, I'm saying this out loud. =P Anyway Cheetah comes flying out like a bat out of hell, but Recovered bats him aside. Wait... *reads Recovered's RP again* OK. Martijn doesn't do that. He gets under Cheetah's piss-poor wedge and shoves him around. Sadly, there isn't much else to say at this point, since this happens for most of the match. Cheetah does get the odd wedging here and there, but cannot capitalize on it as much as he wants to.

Aggression: 8-7 Recovered
Damage: 13-2 Recovered
Strategy: 14-1 Recovered

Recovered wins a 34-11 judges' decision over Cheetah.

Crystal vs. Annoying Box Rush

Hmm. Crystal opts for the sides of Annoying Box Rush. How very interesting. At any rate, he does have some success at this due to a few slip-ups by Nick. Whenever ABR lands upside-down, however, Crystal totally goes to town on him. Whenever ABR got in a slam, though, it really took a toll on Crystal. The Team MPire bot is dying down as ABR slams him again, but at that moment, time's completely up.

Aggression: 9-6 Annoying Box Rush
Damage: 8-7 Annoying Box Rush
Strategy: 11-4 Crystal

Crystal wins a 24-21 judges' decision over Annoying Box Rush.

LEAGUE OF ROBOTIC EXCELLENCE: WEEK 7

Lightweights:

Dr. Pepperdine vs Kite

Kite really tries to not let Pepperdine get an opening at the beginning of the fight, but between Kite's oversteer and Pepper's higher speed, it's inevitable that Pepperdine gets a few blows in before Kite manages to flip him. But once Kite gets a flip in, hoo boy. Kite is able to get Pepperdine under the pulverizer, and Pepperdine takes a few blows. However, once he escapes he's able to find another opening and pound away. This back-and-forth battle goes for the rest of the match, with both robots having sizable dents in them at the end, but neither robot giving up the ghost entirely.

Aggression: 8-7 Kite
Damage: 9-6 Dr. Pepperdine
Strategy: 8-7 Dr. Pepperdine

Dr. Pepperdine wins a 24-21 judge's decision.

Annoying Box Rush vs Mr Not Very Nice LW

ABR's tactic pretty much works out first time here against Mr Not Very Nice, he repels the thwacks with the plow and then got his forks into the triangular support to his enemies thwack. ABR then wastes little time getting down to business by dragging his ass straight to the killsaws for some sawing action on those tyres, with shitloads of the rubber flying off the tyres. Eventually, Mr Not Very Nice wriggles free and retreats. He spends the rest of the match thwacking and running away (Or tired to, anyway) before ABR caught him and sent him back to hazards plenty of times before the clock ran out. Lots of rubber from the tyres lay around the killsaws now, but who won?

Aggression: 10-5 Annoying Box Rush
Damage: 13-2 Annoying Box Rush

Annoying Box Rush wins via a 32-13 decision

Week 9

Lightweights

Turgor vs. Annoying Box Rush

It's do or die for both of these robots. Annoying Box Rush, being the annoying box that it is, rushes out. Forks down, knives out. Wait, there are no knives. Anyway, Turgor seems to be a bit trepidatious and clumsy moves out. He tries to make a sudden turn to ABR's sides, but his horrible control causes him to drift right into the forks. ABR lifts, but the hold is very poor and Turgor drops immediately. Turgor, in close proximity, thwacks its wedge under ABR's side, and getting under ABR tries to slam it into the wall. Nick isn't 'down with that', and ABR races backwards right out of danger, causing Turgor to nearly hit the wall from the middle of the arena. That's got to suck. By the time Turgor has managed to get his wedge pointed at Annoying Box Rush, ABR is back in his face. Unfortunately for Nick, Turgor actually gets under the forks. Surprised for a second, Massimo takes Nick's bot for a huge ride and WHAM!!!!! Oh man, that had to hurt. Annoying Box Rush was slammed so hard against the wall, he went flying a few feet into the air and landed near one of the killsaws! The crowd roars with approval. Both robots manage to get their weapons (in Massimo's case, passive) pointed at each other at the same time. ABR moves in again, but he misses Turgor by a mile. However, he only missed Turgor because Turgor went so wide he nearly put himself onto the killsaws. ABR has to take some time to re-orient as well, but he manages to get the forks pointed at Turgor in time, who's too late for a 'cube siege' and goes flying directly over the forks and this time does hit the wall. Due to the angle he hit the wall at, he tips back and splats down inverted. ABR uses the wedge to stuff him into the wall, but Turgor gets away. With the forks at the ready again, Nick goes hunting for Turgor again, but Turgor is just too fast and moving so wacky that he can't accurately track him. At one point Turgor drifts over and gets nailed by the saws. BZZT. They don't do much damage, though. ABR keeps hunting Turgor. He nearly gets lucky when Turgor hits a wall again and tries to back out of trouble, but Turgor falls to the side. Turgor then manages to spin the wedge under the side again and deliver ABR to the saws himself before Nick can get his machine away. Turgor tries to circle him as this happens, but accidentally does a massive skid and nearly drives himself into the arena drum. He recovers just in time for ABR to move in with the forks. One gets under, the other... doesn't. Turgor is lifted up onto one wheel, and Nick hurriedly tries to force him into the drum, but Turgor still has the torque advantage and pushes into ABR's front. He tries like hell to get the wedge far enough in, but they're deadlocked. And deadlocked they stay, as the match is over.

Aggression: 9-6 Annoying Box Rush
Damage: 9-6 Turgor
Strategy: 8-7 Annoying Box Rush

Annoying Box Rush wins a 23-22 split judges' decision over Turgor.

Conqueror vs Spin Cycle 2

You know, I was gonna make a huge epic adventure story to go with this, but what's the use. It'll only delay the inevitable explosion. If anyone wants, I could PM It too them, when I have it done I suppose.

As for the match, a few hits and Spin Cycle 2 explodes... Go figure

Conqueror wins via KO at 0:59

The Servant's Assistant 3 vs. Cheetah

The Servant's Assistant 3 wins by FF, and goes unbeaten for the entire season! Congrats!

SNK vs Dr Pepperdine

SNK came out with the wedge and Pepperdine came out plow first, don't think either of them was expecting that to be honest. SNK gets close and swings around for the initial blow, so big damage is scored on the side. Not to be outdone, Pepperdine got a big hit in too by using the turret to hit SNK at the same time, big damage on it's top. SNK tries to focus on the sides of Pepperdine, but Dr P manages to cut him off at the pass with a strike on the
