So the kit arrived today and we've a little more than 2 and half weeks to to turn this into a functioning competitor. Stay tuned folks!

Minor update. Most everything is put together. I just need to buy all the batteries I need (namely the 9volts) and then I can seal it up and start practicing some driving.

Makes sense though, it would probably way too much of a hindrance to be outside the bot.
Also, that black receiver thing behind the wheel motors. I can't for the life of me figure out how I'm expected to keep that thing in place like the book wants me to. :ermm:

That could be a possibility. The book recommended using pliers, but that didn't really seem to do the trick.
Also, I realized I didn't post the name of the bot in here yet. It's going to be Mini-Boss, which makes it an off-shoot of my fantasy Final Boss line (and perhaps even moreso down the the line if I spring for the lifter add-on at some point).

you mean
this thing?
I assume you just press-fit it into the hole in the chassis. There's supposed to be something that plugs into it which serves as an off switch.

Welp, first tournament was a bit rough as far as competing goes as Mini-Boss had some issues moving when he got flipped over, but still had a lot of fun. Plus Mini-Boss didn't actually take any real damage outside of some minor scratching so nothing major to replace yet!
Plus I got some cool added decorations from Badnik, including a good, sturdy front wedge with the Boss slogan on it!

Twas a valiant first effort in the arena. Next step is to get that lifter kit!
You think you'll be able to bring it to Franklin in October? That's the next big event around here.
