Get with the beats, the riffs, the harmony, or if you wanna go to hell, Phil Collins.

This thread is to share great video game OSTs you come across. I'm a big fan of the 16 bit era soundtracks, but there are some great modern ones too. I think this is worth sharing because a lot of us like game soundtracks and for me, I actually think of a lot of the fights I write here with game soundtracks playing. It's very much in the same spirit for me.

I've heard many great OSTs, and it's tough to pick an overall favorite, but I have yet to find a game with as bitching and metal a soundtrack as Thunderforce IV.

Sonic's blue testicles become internal with fear. Mega Man X shits metal turds in his robotic trousers in the face of this brutal, erection-waving soundtrack.

Fuck, I'm fully hard.

welp, I came.

What's everyone else got?

If individual songs count, here's one I particularly like- from a bit of an obscure system (The TurboGrafx-16) I know, but it's still pretty damn cool.

Top to bottom it's hard for any game soundtrack to top Grim Fandango. It's my all time favorite game (narrowly beating out Sonic 3) and the soundtrack is certainly a bit contributor to that. It does a great job blending music from several different genre's.

You can go from pan-flute style music:

<iframe type='text/html' width='250' height='210' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/i585vrc1v-c' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen=''></iframe>

To blues-y:

<iframe type='text/html' width='250' height='210' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/HkUb1UyiArs' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen=''></iframe>

To high energy jazz:

<iframe type='text/html' width='250' height='210' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/vvix_4h1m_s' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen=''></iframe>

And even some 50's style rock and roll:

<iframe type='text/html' width='250' height='210' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/TPcd6H43c8k' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen=''></iframe>

And one of my favorite tracks is something of an easter egg since you only hear it if you use a certain item on the "wrong" person:

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Another soundtrack from a relatively obscure title that I quite like has to be this- Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar. Quite a kickass Techno soundtrack, and actually ended up getting released on CD, which was quite a rarity for game soundtracks at the time.

I remember playing a game called Tyrian 2000, it was damn awesome and this tune gave me memories.

Time for something new.

FP2 is coming soon. Soundtrack owns.

Also, Tower of Heaven. A very introspective and somber soundtrack, much like the game itself.
