NASCAR ARC Series

Post by Badnik96 » Sun Mar 12, 2017 11:43 pm

It's time once again for the NASCARC series to hit the track! This time, we're racing at Iowa Speedway, one of the tracks on the ARC schedule that isn't on the current Cup schedule. On the pole is the 23 of Evan Henderson, while on the outside is Tanner Grant. Grant gets a good run on the outside line and is able to get past Henderson early, while 4th-place starter Takumi Fujiwara scrapes the wall early and drops to 6th. Henderson is overtaken by three more cars: Chase Spader, Scott Jackson and Alex Valentine as he drops to 5th. Teammates Grant and Spader battle for the lead on lap 10, with Spader winning the battle. On the same lap, Mike Hunt is turned by Harold Cunningham, with Hunt getting t-boned by Ruri Thomson. Thomson collides with Inky Aosuke, and the pair of them also collects Hoyte Burnett.

Image

Half the field takes this early opportunity to top off on fuel, but Spader doesn't, nor do Antonio Alberts, Seth Martin, Adam Lawson or Aislin Sheehan, who now consist of the top five, as well as seven other drivers. Spader and Alberts break away from the two Lawson cars and begin a battle for the lead. Snuffy McAirborne enters the top 5 on lap 25, passing Sheehan. Spader evades Alberts and starts breaking away from him. At this point, the field has spread out and there is little on-track action as everyone settles in. On lap 43, Johnny Rosales' car dies on track, and John Hayward collides with it, collecting both Good Smile cars and the pole sitter.

Image

Spader stays in the lead on the restart. Lawson picks up a spot on pit road and moves into third, ahead of his teammate. Aiko Asakura, the car who got the most of the collision with the 32, makes a godlike repair job and restarts the race in 9th. The 0 of Rosales spends three laps inspecting what caused the mechanical failure, then repairs it and returns to the track. Snuffy and Scott Jackson make moves on the restart and move into third and fourth respectively. However, cautions breed cautions, and another one comes out on lap 50 for a spin involving Tanner Grant and Matthew Vincent.

Image

We see differing pit strategies here, as Spader, Alberts and McAirborne, as well as most of the field, opt to pit, but Scott Jackson, Scott McHale, Ron Waffle, George Plinkleton, Bjorn Kristjansson, Harold Cunningham and Takumi Fujiwara all stay out, with Jackson taking the lead on the restart. Soon after this, Timothy Victor spins out Aiko Asakura, bringing out the fourth caution.

Image

Once again, some drivers pit, other's don't, and Snuffy McAirborne ends up in the lead this time as the cars cycle through. Behind him are Kyle Wood, Travis Scalabrine, Clyde Guzuta and Alex Valentine. This time, we get a 10-lap segment of green flag racing before Robin Best spins out points leader Kirk Kidd, bringing out caution number five.

Image

Snuffy opts to pit this time, putting Kyle Wood in the lead with Scalabrine, Valentine and Ji-Sung Ki behind him. Ron Waffle speeds on pit road and goes a lap down to serve his penalty. Pinky Machibuse's pit crew messes up as one of the tire carriers trips, and he drops to the back of the field due to the slow stop. Soon after the restart, Aislin Sheehan spins out and collides with Robin Best, also knocking his teammate, Will Harvey Jr. Harvey spins down the track, and is collided with by Bjorn Kristjansson side-on, causing the 74 to flip.

ImageImage

Soon after the restart, it's a 4-way race for the lead between Wood, Scalabrine, Valentine and Ki with everyone else very far back. These four stay together until around lap 90, when Scalabrine is nudged by Valentine and sent back to 4th, behind Ki. On lap 101, the leaders reach the slow car of Pinky Machibuse, and this gives Valentine a prime window to pass Wood for the lead, which he takes. Valentine leads until lap 115, when Aiko Asakura and Matthew Vincent collide and spin on the backstretch.

Image

Wood has a lightning-fast pit stop, and he exits the pits first, However, Magga McDonald and Timothy Victor don't pit and start 1-2 when the green flag waves. McDonald quickly opens up a lead of 1.5 seconds on the 7 car, who seems to be struggling to keep up with the pace. Another caution comes out on lap 123 for a collision between Aislin Sheehan and Scott McHale. Sheehan spins out, collecting Ji-Sung Ki, Tanner Grant and a couple of other drivers.

Image

McDonald and Victor choose to pit this time around, handing the lead back to Valentine, who had passed Wood during the last green run. The lapped car of Ron Waffle nearly loses it in front of Wood, which allows Chase Spader to enter the second spot. Valentine slams the wall hard while battling with lapped cars and pits to repair his car, giving Spader the lead once again, with Fujiwara in second and Wood in third. Soon after this, the ninth caution of the day comes out for a collision between teammates Sean Bennett and Harold Cunningham.

Image

The 47 pits, allowing Fujiwara to take the lead for the first time in the race. Almost immediately after the restart, Matthew Vincent spins again, bringing out caution number ten.

Image

This time, it's the 36 of Tanner Grant that takes point for the second time, with Scott Jackson behind him. The 36 runs away with the lead this time, opening up a second on Jackson. This doesn't last long however, as a spin from Travis Scalabrine brings out caution 11.

Image

Everyone pits on this caution, and Grant has a slow stop and drops to 5th. Jackson takes the point, with McAirborne, Victor and McHale behind him. Another caution on the restart involving several drivers means he can't savor it for long. Included are Antonio Alberts, Karl Smith, George Plinkleton and Chase Spader among others.

Image

The 9 quickly opens up a massive lead on the rest of the field, and it finally seems like the field has settled down here with 80 laps to go. Scott runs around the track like he's on rails, lapping cars left and right. Despite all the traffic, no one is able to get close to him and Scott Jackson takes the win! Congrats to Nick!

Dammit Scott. :v: You're supposed to be the one who gets involved in accidents while the other two score the points!

I suppose Best's run had to come to an end sooner or later, but great wipeout from Harvey Jr.! Plus it's good to see Kidd finishing somewhere down in the pack for a change.

It's time once again for the NASCAR ARC series to hit the track, this time we're at Charlotte Motor Speedway, one of the most famous and prestigious tracks on the circuit. On the front row for tonight's race are Clyde Guzuta and Karl Smith.
Image
Guzuta takes the lead early, and behind him is Mike Hunt who started third. Smith scrapes the wall hard and drops like a rock down the field. Rounding out the top 5 are Dave Davies, Harold Cunningham(!!!) and Ranger Joe. Hunt eventually passes Guzuta for the lead. Racing his way into the top five is Bjorn Kristjansson, looking for redemption after a string of three DNFs. Guzuta fights his way back to the top in a four-car struggle, and Kristjansson uses this opportunity to race into second. Cunningham runs third, his best ever run in the ARC series. Kristjansson tries for several laps to get past Guzuta, eventually leading a lap by three thousandths of a second. Kristjansson begins pulling away from the field as the rest of the field stretches out, making it more difficult to pass. Cunningham works his way up to second and a new face enters the top 5, Seth Martin. Martin continues charging towards the front, passing Hunt and battling for third with Guzuta by lap 55. Green flag stops start on lap 63, and the field begins their cycle. Cunningham emerges in first, with the biggest winner off of pit road being Jaelon Sapp, jumping from eighth to third. During the cycle, Todd Eaton is slammed into the wall by Matthew Vincent, slowing their progress dramatically.

The field is incredibly spread out now with only the first few cars being anywhere near the leader. Kristjansson however catches Cunningham, and so begins the battle for the lead. Cunningham eventually scrapes the wall coming out of turn 4 allowing Kristjansson to take the lead for the second time on lap 82. Soon after this, the leaders encounter their first lap traffic, allowing the rest of the top 10 to catch up to them. This allows Davies to pass Cunningham for second, with Hunt and Martin behind him. Alex Valentine also drops into the top 5 at this time. Kristjansson and Davies battle for the lead, but Valentine also enters the picture to make it a three-way. Davies dive-bombs for the lead on lap 105, with Valentine in hot pursuit of second. Soon it becomes a three-wide battle for the lead.
Image
Davies finally breaks away from the pack... just in time to make his second green-flag stop on lap 118. Unfortunately, Davies has a collision with Aiko Asakura on pit road, and the nose of his car is heavily damaged.
Image
Robin Best, previously running eighth, makes a huge gamble on pit road and chooses to take only two fresh tires. This rockets him out into first place, five seconds ahead of second-place Jaelon Sapp when the pit stops cycle through. Behind the 99, Chase Spader (whose pit crew has been on fire today) and Alex Valentine battle for third. Kristjansson is behind them in fifth. The previous leader Dave Davies is in 38th, one lap down after his pit lane collision. Spader and Kristjansson both get by Sapp, with Valentine sitting in fifth. This crew of four is making big strides towards Best, about half a second per lap. Spader reaches Best's back bumper on lap 150 with 17 to go, and it becomes a free-for-all. Spader rockets by, with Valentine behind him in second and Kristjansson in third. Valentine tries for the lead, but lapped cars get in his way and he can't quite make the pass. The two race side-by-side for several laps through traffic, and despite some big moves by Valentine near the end, it's Chase Spader that picks up his first win at Charlotte!!! yeah boys we did it!!

Woot, second place! Nice to see a bit of good luck after all the middling-to-low finishes I've had on here, lately.

Best with another top 5 finish, good result for him! Harvey Jr. finishing a lap down as is his custom, and Jackson avoiding any incidents. Which is good for him.

Welcome back once again folks for another installment of the NASCAR ARC series! Today's race is at Pocono, the "Tricky Triangle" with only three corners! This is one of the most unique tracks on the circuit and it's anyone's game out there. On the pole for today's race is Scott McHale, with Akira Queen lining up on the outside.
Image
Queen takes the lead early over McHale, with Harold Cunningham, Scott Jackson and Takumi Fujiwara rounding out the top five. However there's a lap 2 caution for a spin involving Ranger Joe, Mike Hunt and Timothy Victor.
Image
Many drivers opt to pit early to top off on fuel, but Will Harvey, Blinky Akabei, Kyle Wood, Matthew Vincent and Travis Scalabrine all stay out to pick up track position. Queen restarts 6th. The 12 car of Sean Bennett retires with engine issues during the caution laps. Akabei and Harvey battle side-by-side for the lead, with Wood behind them trying to make it three wide. Eventually Wood passes Akabei for second with Scalabrine now hunting for third. Behind them, Queen re-enters the top five after passing Vincent. Wood passes Harvey for the lead on lap 11 while Queen continues his journey back to the front, battling Scalabrine for fourth. He flubs this pass and ends up dropping back to sixth, battling Bjorn Kristjansson. Harvey and Akabei battle for second while Wood extends his lead. Queen's car finally comes back to him on lap 15 and he charges past both V-Raptor cars to battle the 77 for third. This becomes a three-wide battle as Evan Henderson comes out of nowhere to challenge for the spot as well.
Image
After several laps of very little passing, Takumi Fujiwara starts moving forward, driving up from 9th to 6th and still moving. Akabei is finally passed by Queen and Henderson, dropping to 5th. Henderson passes Queen to move into third, while Fujiwara races himself into the top 5 by passing Akabei. Henderson continues his charge to the front, passing Harvey for 2nd and now setting his sights on Wood's lead. Kirk Kidd is also lurking in the top 10, hunting for win number six. At this point, most of the field is single file, and passing is difficult for anyone. Green flag stops begin on lap 37. The 69 of Mike Hunt runs out of fuel, holding up many cars on pit road. Once everything cycles through, Wood still holds the lead, with Henderson, Scalabrine, Harvey and Akabei sitting as the current top five. Will Harvey gets a huge run to the inside and blasts past Scalabrine and Henderson, setting his sights on leading a second time.
Image
Harvey gets to lead one lap before he falters and drops to third, and soon it's Henderson's turn to battle Wood for the lead. The back half of the top 10 bunches up, and this allows Kirk Kidd to race through them and pop out in fourth. Wood's lead finally falls as Harvey gets another huge run and rockets into the lead, far ahead of anyone else.
Image
Antonio Alberts breaks into the top 10 with help from Dave Davies, as Henderson's car falters heavily. Kidd finally gets past Wood and starts working on the lead around lap 60. Queen re-enters the top five once again by passing Vincent, and rounding out the top ten are Akabei, Fujiwara, Alberts and Tanner Grant. Kidd passes Harvey for the lead on lap 62 and looks like a lock for his sixth win.
Image
Queen moves past Wood and soon after that he gets by Harvey as well, and it's looking like a battle between the top two drivers as the race winds down. However, on lap 66 the second caution comes out due to an engine failure by Antonio Alberts.
Image
Kidd wins the race off pit road and leads on the restart. Harvey, Queen, Wood and Akabei line up behind him, but it's Fujiwara who makes the most of it and races his way up to fourth. He follows this up with a pass on Queen and races into third on lap 78. He then capitalizes on a failed pass by Harvey and moves up again into second, just in time to challenge Kidd for the lead. Dave Davies has surprised everyone, racing his way up through the top ten and moving into 4th with 13 to go. Fujiwara struggles to get by Kidd, despite multiple attempts. This culminates in Harvey taking advantage and passing him back for second with 12 to go. While the leaders try everything to pass Kidd, Ruri Thomson makes his way into the top five, then into the top three off of a failed pass by Fujiwara. And despite everyone's best efforts to pass, Kirk Kidd is able to edge them all out and collect his sixth win!
