It's that time once again folks! This time the NASCAR ARC series makes its trip to Sonoma, CA to go road racing at Infineon! This is the second road course on the schedule and it's sure to be an exciting race. On the front row we have Takumi Fujiwara with the pole position, on his outside is Bjorn Kristjansson.
Image
Fujiwara gets off to a flying start while the rest of the field starts battling for position. By the end of the first lap, almost everyone has gotten into single-file, with Fujiwara holding a sizable lead over Kristjansson. Rounding out the top five are Akira Queen, Karl Smith and Snuffy McAirborne. On lap 3, the first caution comes out when Seth Martin turns around points leader Kirk Kidd.
Image
Almost immediately on the restart there's another caution for a spin involving Scott Jackson and Pinky Machibuse.
Image
Almost the entire field comes down to pit on this caution, the only exceptions being Kristjansson, Blinky Akabei and Magga McDonald. Snuffy McAirborne and Karl Smith both have very slow stops and drop down the leaderboard considerably. Despite a slow start, Fujiwara blows by McDonald on lap 10 and begins gunning down the leaders. A number of cars make unscheduled pit stops, possibly due to fears that slipping into the gravel on the S-bend damaged their tires. This includes Ruri Thomson, Evan Henderson, Aislin Sheehan and Tanner Grant among others. Fujiwara slingshots past Akabei on lap 13 and begins closing in on Kristjansson, who has an almost 3-second lead at this point. Fujiwara drives past the 52 on lap 20 and begins his dominance over the field once again.
Image
Meanwhile, his teammate Aiko Asakura has managed to crack the top 10, passing Ranger Joe for the 10th spot. Takumi is driving away from the field, having a nearly four-second lead on Kristjansson by lap 25. Asakura moves up to eighth, and Clyde Guzuta also starts moving forward, passing Adam Lawson for sixth and encroaching on Akira Queen's 5th place spot. Robin Best makes the first green-flag stop on lap 30, signaling the start of the green flag stop cycle. However, midway through pit stops, Dave Davies merges out in front of Asakura and they collide bringing out the third caution of the day.
Image
This makes things very interesting, as a large number of cars were on pit lane when the caution came out, which scrambles the running order heavily. The leaders, including Fujiwara, use this caution period to pit. Robin Best ends up holding the lead when the green flag waves again, and behind him to round out the top five are Clyde Guzuta, Chase Spader, Alex Valentine and Ron Waffle. Fujiwara not only has to line up behind all the cars that pitted under green, but he also had issues on pit road and ended up restarting 28th. Valentine had a good run on the restart and passes Spader for third, while Scott McHale enters the top five by passing the 40 of Waffle. Valentine passes Guzuta with ten to go, and sets his sights on the lead. With about four to go, Fujiwara's car finally comes back to him and he drives past six cars in one turn, jumping up to 21st. Meanwhile, the battle for the lead heats up, as Valentine and Best race side-by-side for almost an entire lap as the laps wind down. Valentine finally gets past with one lap to go, and despite a solid charge by Best going into the first few turns, Valentine is able to hold him off. Alex leads what's left of the race and comes across the line first for his first win in the ARC Cup! Congrats to Alex V!!

Dammit Scott. :v:

Best grabbing another great result when those ahead faltered, and Harvey Jr. somewhere in the middle where he should really be. Also on the lead lap, so well done to him.

You can add onto your sig now Alex, haha. "NASCARC Season 1 Winner at Sonoma"

Boom.

Anyway, poor poor showing for Lawson Racing here. I really had high hopes for my team here, but it seems as if we had a huge swing and a miss on pit strategy this week. Seth Martin continues to drive way too stoned and Hoyte Burnett continues to disappoint.

On to Kentucky!

Here we are at Kentucky Speedway for this weekend's NASCAR ARC Series race! This 1.5-mile speedway is sure to be a good race, and we have Akira Queen and Will Harvey Jr. on the front row to prove it.
Image
The 66 makes it out front early, while the rest of the field scrambles for track position. Soon enough the field spreads out, with Takumi Fujiwara, Clyde Guzuta and Dave Davies rounding out the top five. George Plinkleton moves up from sixth into the top four, passing Fujiwara on the way. Guzuta runs third. On lap 15, Harvey passes Queen for the lead.
Image
The field begins to spread out after this, and it becomes apparent at this point that it is super difficult to pass anywhere on the track. He holds the lead past the first wave of pit stops. The first caution of the night comes out around lap 70 when Timothy Victor's engine blows and he decides to drive up the track, wiping out Queen, Tanner Grant, Dave Davies, George Plinkleton and Ji-Sung Ki. Antonio Alberts and Kirk Kidd are also involved.
Image
Harvey leads on the restart followed by Fujiwara, Guzuta, Seth Martin and Snuffy McAirborne. Karl Smith pits for a mechanical issue soon after the restart and goes 4 laps down to fix it. Fujiwara fails a pass on the 74 and drops to 4th, putting Clyde in 2nd. It's a heated free-for-all between the top five as Harvey and Guzuta battle for first, while McAirborne and Fujiwara battle for third. Snuffy ends up getting a run into second, but he fails to pass the leader and drops to third once again. On lap 87, Clyde snatches the lead from the 74.
Image
However he doesn't hold it for long, as Harvey takes it back on lap 90.
Image
Clyde drops back a few paces, and the rest of the pack jumps on him, resulting in a massive pack brawl for second and below while Harvey starts striding ahead. Things settle down eventually with Guzuta keeping his second place and Fujiwara running just inches behind him in third. Harvey has a decently sized gap on the field now, but not for long as he catches up to Harvey within four laps. The second wave of green flag stops begins on lap 106. Aiko Asakura and Evan Henderson collide on pit road and both go several laps down to repair damage. Harvey extends his lead after they cycle through, with Fujiwara in second, Guzuta in third and McAirborne and newcomer Jaelon Sapp running fourth and fifth. Also new in the top ten is Robin Best, who used a keen pit strategy to leap up from the top 20. Snuffy enters second as Takumi is held up by the slow car of Sean Bennett. 9 laps to go and there's about two seconds between Harvey and McAirborne, with that gap increasing nearly every lap. No one ever comes close to him as the laps wind down, and it becomes win number one for Will Harvey Jr! Congrats Nick!

Third time's a charm! :D

So all my guys have now won a race each, and Scott Jackson is the worst performing out of all race winners. Dammit Scott. :v: Good to see Robin closing in on the top three as well, though!

We're back once again folks for a heated ARC Series race at New Hampshire! This one-mile oval should provide some exciting racing! On the pole for tonight's race is Dave Davies, with Takumi Fujiwara on the outside.
Image
Fujiwara quickly took the lead, as Davies struggled in front and fell back to fourth. Antonio Alberts sits in 2nd followed by Chase Spader, Davies and Scott Jackson. Alberts gets past Fujiwara early as the field spreads out.
Image
The field quickly spreads out to single-file, and passing is rare. However, in the front of the field there is a battle for third between Jackson and Spader, plus a battle for fifth between Davies and Clyde Guzuta. Alberts quickly runs away from the pack, putting on almost three seconds by lap 25. He continues his dominance of the field while the rest of the cars seem to be running exclusively single-file. Cars finally start to pass each other around lap 35 and Bjorn Kristjansson finally makes a pass on Davies for fifth. Kristjansson moves up into the front four and passes Jackson for fourth spot on lap 52. Meanwhile, Scott McHale, Guzuta and Hoyte Burnett all get past Davies as he continues to drop back. Kirk Kidd, the points leader, struggles massively as he qualified in 41st and has had issues passing people all day, stuck in 38th. Green flag stops begin on lap 76, and Alberts is able to use his lead as an advantage, pitting one lap later than the rest of the leaders. He comes out in front, six seconds ahead of Spader in 2nd. Rounding out the top 5 are Fujiwara, Jackson and McHale. The big mover on pit road is Robin Best, who moves up from 40th to 24th. The rest of the race plays out in much of the same fashion. Alberts continues his domination, leading the rest of the race and winning in dominant fashion! Congrats to Brad!
