Fantasy experiment...

Just a thought I had, to create a new RPG. It would be robot based but not in the fashion you're used to. I'd create everything needed so everyone would be on a level playing field. It would be using robots in the style of Gundam, Zoids, Mechwarrior, etc. You'd have a given ammount of money to buy upgrades, some customization options, and as you win more fights more money and upgrades would become available. Everyone would start with the same basic chassis, but could develop in entirely different combat styles and weapon configurations. The robots would be humanoid shaped, so even melee and martial arts would be an option. Various weapon specialties including rifles, machine guns, melee weapons, and missiles would be available. Everyone would be ranked and could participate in grudge matches, fight for awards and upgrades, and eventually even create customized upgrades by winning tournaments. RPing would be done in the current style to keep things simple at first, and if all goes well we can expand and try to attract new players. Gimme some feedback on what you think.

This idea sounds aweosme. I've always loved evolution-styled RPGs, and would love to see where this goes. I'm all for it.

I would think.

I really like the sound of this. Obviously I don't know some of the specifics yet but the general idea sounds amazing. If you can make it work, that would the shiznit.

Well, I'll rephrase my question to say: What kind of representation would be used?

Also, are we talking each person has just one robot?

I feel kind of alone on this subject. I hate mechs, i've always hated mechs and will always hate mechs. Robotic combat is fun, but machines with missles, machine guns, etc. is boring.

It would be interesting to see where it goes, but I think it would take attention away from the good RPG's.

Yes there will be pictures of each bot, with some customization options for the look.

Also, yes, each person would have one.

Because this would be a Mech Warrior type thing as opposed to regular robot combat, I could probably get some of my friends that like that sort of thing to join as well. At the very least, it's probably something that will attract a wider audience.

Same question. I may be interested if it's after Revolution, but there's no way for the next 12-13 weeks.
