Experimental tourney

Post by That Kode Guy » Tue May 13, 2014 11:23 pm

I'm thinking of a fun little concept tournament. It would basically be a "swap" tournament where people enter a bot for two weight classes. Like, say for instance, it's LW and HW:

Kody - Scarab, SZF
Alex - Dr. P, Punch Buggy
Josh - Robotnik, ToC
Chris - Red Zone, Striker

Thus, the random swap is done, and the teams look like:

Kody - Red Zone, Punch Buggy
Alex - Robotnik, SZF
Josh - Scarab, Striker
Chris - Dr. P, ToC

So we'd basically be fighting each other with other people's bots!

Standard ARC rules would apply of course. But who would be interested in such a thing?

That's an interesting idea. Creator versus Creation! I'd be willing to give it a try, provided whoever has my robots doesn't scratch the paintwork too much. :proud:

Ooh, now that sounds really interesting. It might help people think outside of the box in terms of their RP's, having to use designs they might not have used normally.

This sounds interesting, id enter. But who would get credit for the win? The creator or the rp'er.

But yeah this would be rather cool I'd imagine. I would like to see there was some sort of measure in place so that someone can't deliberately troll with their entries (i.e. someone entering a One Wheeled Wonder caliber bot :v: )

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Single-elimination I think would work well since the tournament's meant to be rather short. I guess I could bump the number of people up to 8. We could do all four weight classes I suppose. Thoughts?

If it's going to be Single-elim then all 4 weight classes wouldn't be a bad idea. it lessens the likelihood that someone could get completely bounced from the tournament in the first week.

You should have a rule in place so no one enters joke entries for free wins

Definitely. If there's a way of making sure people don't deliberately enter their worst robots (IE. Minimum win record or something?), then I see it being a good competition.
