I think I want to write tournaments again
Posted something similar over on the FRA. This one's for you guys. ;)
Once upon a time, I was one of the more frequent tournament writers over on the FRA and RW:UK forums. These last few years, however, real life and my own inherent laziness have ground my output to a virtual standstill. That might change now, though, thanks to renewed activity on the FRA and Kody's convincing me to pop round here again rekindling my interest.
I'm back in the mech-mashing mood and I've got the itch to start up a tournament again. I just want to check if folk are actually interested before I take the plunge and wind up wasting everybody's time. :P
I really enjoyed creating my own points-driven league thing on the FRA a couple years back and I've been tinkering around with updating the rules for a similar contest for a while now, but I'll probably wait until nearer the end of FRR: No Mercy before getting serious about that. What I'm proposing now is something short, simple and casual- a wee bunch of melees with real robots, either several 3-ways or a handful of 6-ways. It really depends how many people from here and the FRA want to get involved, ideally either 9 or 12 respectively. No firm rules on RPs or stat layouts, no elaborate set-ups or gimmicks - just informal old-school clashes with the bots we love most. I'm also not sure whether to make it general entry (i.e. any Heavyweight goes) or themed (i.e. all-underdog annihilation!). Whichever's more of a larf for you guys.
All I know is that I feel like I want to do something simple and silly, like in ye olden days when robosaurs still roamed the Earth. I want to have some fun with my bot-fightin' friends again.
Anyone interested? :)

Put my name down Steven, I thoroughly enjoyed the last tournament of yours that I entered, and I'll be delighted to enter again.
