tournament idea

basically this is the same kind of deal where you enter in the 4 weightclasses. but the scores are culmulative, so the guys that make the playoffs are the guys who have the best win/loss record across all 4 weight classes. its a tournament that only crowns 1 champion. getting in the playoffs means that you fight against your opponent in all weightclasses and the winner (we'd need some kind of tiebreaker if it went 2-2) advances. the only problem is deciding what the tiebreaker might be (perhaps the two people will agree/be randomly chosen a weight class that will serve as a tiebreaker in case of an split, or maybe it might be a tournament that features 5 weightclasses).

what do you peeps think

If I had to do well in all four weight classes I would just enter four Influenzas.

This type of tournament discourages creativity. There's a disincentive to entering four different designs since you risk losing everything if just one of them flops.

bah, i thought of this with the idea that people owuld just enter tournaments normally and not enter 4 underalls like a huge dick

I mean, I don't know. If you wanna write it I'll enter it. But it kind of rubs me the wrong way considering usually one of my robots does well and the other three suck. It's almost as if you designed a tournament specifically to highlight that.

I like to use 1 of my 4 weightclasses to try out something new/weird/bold funny, knowing I will throw something new into the mix, and if it flops, it will only affect 1/4th of my performance ;).

Well if people need to do well in ALL weight classes then logically the would only enter their best stuff. I mean there wouldn't be much point in entering something new and unproven unless you were REALLY confident in it.

Of course if something like this were to go down, I'd push for a rule that you couldn't enter the same design in multiple weight classes because that's just complete bullshit (and no loopholes like giving them different names or changing colors).

Of course if say, my most sucsessful design is mr death 2 then think of it this way:
lw with some spikes
mw with more torque and a plow
hw mr death, duh
shw courrupted politician with same stats.
