Kody, can you ask Joey what kind of batteries would work then? And what I could do to keep the lifter in the weight limit?

Quote:

[9:40:11 PM] Joey McConnell: batteries...I would say he needs at least 200A discharge to be able to make it all work reasonably well
[9:40:19 PM] Joey McConnell: he could get away with 4ah actual capacity
[9:40:38 PM] Joey McConnell: so to RMP!
[9:42:28 PM] Joey McConnell: trying the design-a-pack tool in RMP
[9:43:47 PM] Joey McConnell: which is very good unless you want to know the max discharges of cells, grrr
[9:45:35 PM] Joey McConnell: plan b, LiPos XD
[9:45:40 PM] Joey McConnell: http://www.robotmarketplace.com/product ... PF70L.html
[9:46:02 PM] Joey McConnell: that will probably provide just about enough power and...I don't know how much an ounce is
[9:46:27 PM] Joey McConnell: why are the dimensions in sensible units but the weight not? bizarre
[9:47:31 PM] Joey McConnell: 708 grams according to Google
[9:47:36 PM] Joey McConnell: which is not very much at all
[9:48:56 PM] Joey McConnell: Just to be safe I would run the packs in parallel but that gives you ~1.8kg for batteries including shockproofing and mounting
[9:49:09 PM] Joey McConnell: that makes the robot without the lifter more feasible
[9:49:39 PM] Joey McConnell: The lifter is a lost cause I fear as the pneumatics and extra mechanical support for it would take up about 6kg at the very least
[9:50:30 PM] Joey McConnell: the one way it would be possible is with linear actuators but that would be slow and possibly lack reliability, and the weight would only be reduced by a couple of kg
[9:51:30 PM] Joey McConnell: Lithium polymer batteries are probably the way to go in vapourbots, the FRA does now allow them provided safety precautions are taken
[9:51:58 PM] Joey McConnell: you just really need to watch the discharge ratings because they will explode if overdischarged, and possibly if damaged too
[9:52:27 PM] Joey McConnell: also you need to babysit them while charging
[9:58:15 PM] Joey McConnell: standard disclaimer: I am in no way an expert and my knowledge of real robots is limited to having won the AWS once and having wrecked several LiPos and built something that nearly took my finger off cutting armour for it[/quote]

So I guess the lifter won't be happening then. Might as well call it Shade Fist 4 or something.

Fuck it Shade Fist 3 is the new MW

And here we highlight the contrasts between the FRA system and the ARC system. In ARC you can get away with stretching reality, while in FRA you're responsible for making sure it's physically possible to build.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Thanks, man. Not sure what I'm gonna toss in MW now, maybe I'll just say "fuck it" and put Mortician back in.

It has the same problem that the original PS had. =P 4-bar arms are the same length, so it won't retract properly.

I might give this a go if I can come up with enough ideas. I did have a go coming up with proper stats, but I'm not sure if I've got enough knowledge. But if Badnik's having a go here, I'm wondering if I might be able to as well. =)
