Sorry for the delay, and I think the drowningcity.com domain name officially expires in the next few days, but Josh has generously agreed to pick it up for another year, but under advancedrobotcombat.com this time.

Here's a sample of what it would look like:

As you can tell, it's not finished and there are some problems with it that I'll fix later, but this gives you a rough idea of what I was going for. I didn't know what to put on the front page since activity is so off and on around here, so I kept it relatively time sensitive.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I'll turn the irritating autoplay off the videos laters.

I think that looks pretty sweet. I like putting the useful buttons along the top so you can't miss 'em.

Also I swear I'm going to get around to getting a new pic for my staff photo. That picture is at least 4 years old. God I suck...

That looks really, really nice. I thought about designing a sort of "bot gallery" to host pictures of bots, organized by team and builder.

EDIT:
On September 11th, ARC celebrated 9 years as a community, originally forming in 2002, exactly one year after the 9/11 attacks.

What is it with you and terrorism?

I think the Bot Gallery might be a good idea, if slightly tricky to implement. Plus, when the pictures get deleted on their original host, we're just gonna end up with a blank box.

this site must be confusing as hell to anyone that finds it and doesn't know it's a robot combat forum

it's called drowningcity, but it's got nothing to do with new orleans
it's also called ARC, but it's got nothing to do with the "Association for Retarded Children"
and if you don't know about battlebots/robot wars, you would have no idea what we're talking about

Bleh, it's not so much an obsession with terrorism as it is how much I love/miss the World Trade Center. But damn, it gets Jonzu mad.

But anyway, if you want to do a Bot Gallery go for it. Hunting down all the remaining bot pictures could be a real bitch though.

By the way, when we get the new domain up and running we're planning on changing the domain name of the forum to match up with ARC. The board will remain the same except for the domain name itself. So the board URL would be z10.invisionfree.com/ARC_Forums instead of Drowning_City_Forums.
