I just got a new computer last week at Circuit City's "going out of business sale", lol. It has 6GB of RAM, and a quad-core 2.2ghz Phenom 9550 processor. The graphics card in it is alright, but I ordered a GeForce 9500 GT 1GB video card which will be here Wednesday. The only thing I don't like is Vista, but mostly the 64-bit Operating System. Robot Arena menu textures get fucked up... ;) The keyboard sucks too.
It's hooked up to a 22" lcd screen and a Logitech 5.1 surround sound system.
I still have my old computer too, I have it hooked up to my hd tv. It has Windows XP, a single 2.4ghz processor and only 512MB RAM.

So do you guys have any modded "gamer computers", or did you stick with the basics?

To fix your Robot Arena 2 graphics you need the 1.3 patch .

You can find it here http://www.robotarena.com/

Or here http://gametechmods.com/

Oh huh, didn't even know that patch existed. Does it change anything else besides the graphics bug?

EDIT: Not to get into RA2 talk here, but my game keeps crashing for no reason. This a side effect of the patch or what?

Nothing. Just patch 1.3. Even downgraded to patch 1.2, still didn't work.

Thanks ACAMS, looks great now.

Back onto the topic of computers, I got my new video card installed. Runs like a champ. Haven't tried out too many games yet, but I don't have any games with killer graphics yet. Suggestions?? I played Goldeneye Source and it looks glorious. (Don't know what GES is, search youtube.)

Well, seeing as I've been bumping threads a lot, here's to another relevant one.

I'm getting my Alienware laptop replaced. It was cool until the motherboard went shit. Anyway, the new one's general specs:

Dell Alienware M17 R4?
nVidia GeForce GTX770M
intel i7-4800 @ 3.7GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
1.5TB HDD
17" screen

I have a new laptop as well. It's the most high-end computer I've ever owned.

Lenovo Thinkpad W530
Windows 7 Professional
8-core Intel i7-3720QM, 3.7 ghz
15" 1920x1080 FHD LED display
32 GB DDR3 RAM
250 GB SSD SATA3 hard disk
NVIDIA Quadro K1000M

I made all my renders for LORE on it; it's really stepped up what I can do in CAD.

The biggest downside is that it's not a very portable machine really. I can bring it places; it's not a desktop, but it's heavy and ungainly to walk around with. I suppose the other downside is that it isn't really chic. It's a Lenovo box, and very unapologetic about the fact.

I would've wanted something more portable, but I also wanted 1000 pixels of vertical space on the screen, and because laptop manufacturers are retarded that means I have to buy a 1080p screen (I used to have a 12" screen with 1400x1050 which was excellent).

I haven't figured out what to do with all the RAM but I'll think of something. Maybe I can open two instances of RealPlayer. :v:

Not bad, Nick. Certainly more RAM... though I have a 1TB SSD. It's external, though, but it still works 100% so I don't have to send it back. Although I am intrigued by this NVIDIA Quadro K1000M graphics card you have...

I'll post a pic of the new laptop when it gets here. It's actually more attractive than the outgoing Alienware M17, and that's something...

I think your video card's a bit better and your processor is a bit worse, so about the same I guess? I look forward to seeing what kind of sick renders you'll churn out now.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.
