SNOW!

Speak freely but don't be stupid about it or you'll find yourself on the last train to Clarksville, ya dumbass.

SNOW!

Post by Minion33088 » Wed Feb 14, 2007 4:34 pm

Out here in Slocum we probably have like a foot of snow. None of the roads are plowed. My dad took my car to work seeing as though it's 4 wheel drive and when he finally got home it looked like an ice cube. My dad, my mom, and myself all got stuck in the driveway with SUVs.

I have pictures and stuff I'll post later.

How about the rest of you Pennsylvanians?

We got that same snow out here yesterday. Awful drifty. Had some 3-4 foot drifts all over the driveway. At least it's slightly warmer than it's been for a couple weeks. Our average temp last week was 5.

Wasn't that bad for us, althought it was still a lot of snow and I thankfully didn't have to drive anywhere today. At least now the roads are plowed and I don't mind driving in snow as some other people do.

Coming from anyone else, I'd be worried, but having been to your place, Paul, I can easily see how three SUV's could get stuck in your driveway.

Yeah, we were predicted to get around 11 inches too. Not sure how much has actually come, I just know it's fuckin' cold out right now.

Well, I guess we weren't stuck in the fashion that you might think "holy shit, we better get someone to tow us", but I had to rock forward and back abit.
I learned that my Tracker is an absolute beast in the snow. It went straight up my driveway which was covered with 10 inches of snow. For those of you who know my driveway, hehe... The RPMs were pegged at 6,000 and it just clawed right up it at over 10 mph.

Here's some pix of my car after my dad got home from driving it to and from work. The ice was ATLEAST 1/8" thick, all the way around.

My dad plowing with the farm tractor which burns through 5 gallons of gas every 30 minutes. Clearing your driveway isn't cheap I guess.

Oh, and one more thing. If you use hot water to melt the ice off your car, be sure to keep it away from your keyholes or else they'll freeze solid...

My dad said on his way home he passed 40 to 50 stuck cars, and that the conditions were worse than he had seen in the blizzard of '93 and '96 combined. My college shut down Wednesday and Thursday, as did every other school in viewing area.

Whoa, that makes what we got around here look like a dusting.

Also, LOL @ the "graduation" banners still being up around the ARCcon pavillion.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

lol Paul, it's never a good idea to use hot water to get ice off your car. Never ever ever.

We're still at 0 inches of snow here in southern California, about 5 inches of rain all year.

Yeah, I've been meaning to take them down for several weeks now. They're starting to look pretty ratty.

In my town, it blew just right and it filled our porch and created a ramp leading down the sides of the porch. When I shoveled out the sidewalk, you felt like you was walking by a ramp.

Well we got hit with another 11 inches or so yesterday. Luckily it wasn't as much of a fiasco as last time, I guess we were more prepared. It still ruined most of my plans.
With a Valentine's Day storm, and now a Saint Patrick's Day storm, I wonder what Easter has in store? lol
