Hey, Disc Addiction hasn't fought in nearly a year, so I am thinking of rebuilding it the old way, with the VDD-Weapon gearbox.

This was what got me thinking about how it worked great, but time is what killed it. If I got a new weapon gearbox, new 300 motor, new gears, I am sure it would work great still. I have just been busy with school, yatta yatta.

I'll post about Poly Stone later.

do it, and own everyone who uses those brushless death motors.

Boo yaa!! VDD gearboxes with bigger motors pwn! ;-) I think I'm in the same boat as you with Hit or Miss. Things over on the West Coast have really gotten nasty though. Good luck man.

Yeah, ants found their spot here on the west, and are evolving faster than those on the east. Sub-lights, east definatly has advantage.

But yes, ants have gotten nasty over here. There are horizontal spinners with 4 oz bars that do tons of damage, not to mention the 5 direct-axi 6 oz drum ants, ahh.

Watch the ant videos, they are getting really tough!

Ants have always been like RA2, at least on the west coast. Someone comes out with a good design, everyone copies it. Someone has a spinner, someone gets a bigger motor, then someone starts stacking bigger motors. And people take the ant class way too seriously. I've seen the same builders get their MWs destroyed and they laugh it off, but if their ant get trashed, they get pissed.

Here's a side project I have also been doing, need to wire up the new ESC and battery and it should be ready to go, also need to program the Pheonix

That looks really damn cool with the canted donald hutson style wheels. It looks a tad messy though, but that doesn't really matter if it's tough.

The saw's awfully low? Do you think it will adequately hit stuff. That's the reason I raised EEN9's blade up 1/2 an inch.

Yeah, I was thinking about. Seems like most antweights have only 3-4 contact points with the ground, 2 being their wheels, 1-2 with wedges/supports for weapons. I was thinking of flipping the axi motor over, so the blade is on top. It'd be pretty angled, but it might work better.

Here's Poly-Stone, though I'm going to have to redesign it.

I messed up when calculating the weight, thought it was 6 oz of lexan (chassis) when it was really almost 10oz, d'oh!

Image

This brings it down to 7.6 oz

The blade weighs 3.4 oz, maxons weight 1 oz each, which means 3 oz for axi, battery, two pulleys, belt, and wheels.

I can probably pocket the top piece to .1 thickness, but I am running out of ideas.

I'm sure you've already though of this but what is the lightest material you can make the pulleys out of?

Pocketed top piece and added slots, 6.8 now. I think that's workable, since more will be cut out for ESCs, which I still need to decide upon which ones to use.

I am most likely going to not build Poly-Stone, mainly because I don't want to invest in a new bot when I know it won't beat the Al. railed drum bots at RoboGames, and most likely won't win the class (not that I'm there to win).

Instead, I'm going to get VDB, the Team Think Tank signature beetle, going again, all it needs is a new receiver (hole in front left wedge) and a new Axi, all in all much cheaper than building Poly-Stone.
