"Ze mist mentioned someone called Daff when it was in ze body of ze woman" Saalima mentions, having floated out into the hall. she makes a passing glance at Juno, going completely nuts for some reason. she raises and eyebrow, and continues "have you dealt with whatever zat threat might be already?" she asks of Taylor, before she ... for lack of a better word, stumbles, falling to the ground, her mind muscles still in pain from the last impact. where did my wheelchair go...that fucking brute...needs to actually think every once in a while

JunJun slowly turns her head to stare at the floating woman...

The... what... ? I-it can... talk? I don't... under... stand...

And JunJun faints again.

Ixtli turns to Gus and Doctor Taylor and shrugs - a movement that on an largely aquatic newt-being doesn't really look like a shrug at all, but somehow the message gets through.

"I suppose I should make sure she doesn't kill herself....2

Ixtli shifts her spit globules into a round shield, and heads forward defensively, looking out for any further water - or she mentally notes grimly, right now more likely blood - that can be used to give her some material to work with for offense.

"Daff... I'm guessing that's short for Daffodil, the guy we just met on the roof. Your friend here fought him off," Taylor responds, gesturing to the now passed out JunJun. "You said the... whatever that was... took over bodies?"

"Like, uh, like a ghost?" Gus chimes in.

"Even if ghosts were real, Gus, they wouldn't come in red."

"But what if they do?"

"Gus... where is the wheelchair?"

"It's, uh, in the waiting room."

"Go get it please."

"Oh, uh, okay."

Gus begins to limp back to the room.

"So, anyway... this `Daff` fellow said he was with Spring Corps, which worries me. The last time they attempted to take over a government building, they were caught immediately and leveled it in the following firefight. They didn't have a big, armored knight or a body-snatcher back then, though," Taylor explains.

Gus returns, sitting in the wheelchair.

"Now give her the chair, Gus."

He stares at Taylor in disbelief before getting up, leaning on the wall, and nudging the chair toward JunJun. Taylor puts his face in his hand.

"The conscious one, Gus."

"Oh, uh... right." He pulls the chair back and nudges it toward Saalima.

Taylor's eyes widen suddenly. "You said she was in a woman's body?" He asks Saalima. "What did she look like?"

"Kuruth has her body" she says, gesturing with her head over to the room

When Kuruth'Ondor walks out of the room, he does not have any body slung over his shoulder, however. "The woman that you speak of is in the medical room. I was forced to knock her out earlier, though the blow seems to have done more harm than I would have thought. Your species is unusually breakable."

Kuruth'Ondor picks up the green... Juno again and slings her over a shoulder. A touch of caution would do you good, child...then again, I've been unusually reckless of late. This place. Everything about it is wrong. I am out of sorts and making mistakes. I need to get home.

Kuruth'Ondor's "unusually breakable" quip prompts Dr. Taylor to push his way past, into the waiting area. He isn't in there very long.

"Good god, what happened in there? This is-" He wretches, holding back vomit. "...this is even worse than I thought."

Gus begins to limp over to the door.

"Don't go in there, Gus. It's not for you."

"But-"

"Gus, go into my office and call one of the Haven executives. They need to know what happened."

"Your, uh, office?"

"Yes, Gus. Please."

"Okay," Gus replies with a sigh. He then heads back down the hall, toward the office and the elevator, hopping on his good leg most of the way.

Dr. Taylor watches him, and as soon as Gus is around the corner, he addresses the party. "I need to confess something to you all. Gus isn't my best worker. Not even close. He's completely incompetent. The only reason I haven't fired him is because his aunt is my boss, and I'd like to continue to enjoy my work. This is, by the way, the same boss who was visiting today... who I'm afraid is mangled in the room behind me. Which is why I didn't want him to go in there." He pauses for breath. "I need to go back to my office and make sure he doesn't accidentally order another pizza. I'd suggest you keep an eye on your companion." He points further down the hall, to a corner, just as Ixtli turns out of the party's view.

Ixtli's search for water is starting well. Just around the corner, she finds a water cooler, complete with cone-shaped paper cups. The tank on top is roughly three-quarters full. A door at the end of the hall is open; a stairwell is visible through it. It appears to only go down.

Saalima looks at the silent shock of those around her. Once she was like them, but she's made of somewhat stronger stuff now.

"so first he's your best, now he's your worst? why not be truthful with us to begin?" she questions, he eyes seeking answers in the Doctor's face. she sits back, still focused rather unnervingly intensely at Taylor. "So, now what? I'm sure it's ze mist causing the stuff downstairs." she pauses. "any idea what zat is?"

(Holy crap that was quite a delay. Sorry about that. I've been somewhat creatively drained lately. I don't intend to abandon this game, I promise.)

Taylor seems to have been caught off-guard.

"Oh, right, I should explain that. The soldiers who greeted you at the door... I don't know their connections, and seeing that the world has been condensed to a single small country, it's possible one of them knew Gus's family, and if they ever heard that I said that, my life would go to shit. I wanted to be up front with you, but I also want to keep my job. I apologize for the deception, but it's a necessary evil. As for the mist... I can't say I know quite what that is or where it came from." He drops eye contact as he finishes his last sentence.

JunJun begins to wake up and finds herself over Kuruth'Ondor's shoulder.

Ixtli summons half of the water in the machine into a shield - she doesn't want to annoy people too much by leaving them without drinking water - and then returns to rejoin the rest of the group.

Kuruth'Ondor notices Juno waking, and places her back on her feet. This Dr. Taylor...he does not trust this man. There is something in his face, in his expression. He may not be an outright liar, but there is more that he will not say. However, Kuruth'Ondor simply nods and takes his explanation at face value. In this situation, it is best that people think him ignorant, as they are so often wont to do. Many of them seem more comfortable in this world than him, so he leaves the extraction of answers to their methods for now. His might be somewhat more...unpleasant.

naturally he's hiding something...even the brute can see that

she turns to Kuruth, and asks him a question "if you had vital information to ze success of one of your military things, would you not make sure to share it with your entire troop?"
